Mario built this Oregon team or did he?

Crazy people try to discredit Mario at Oregon.

Lannings OL last year he walked into was Mario's. Nix didn't get sacked until game 7.

Also Lanning lost some good players off Oregons team to portal after Mario left like Trey Benson, D.J James, Travis Dye, Jayson Jones, Donte Thornton, Justin Flowe, KIngsley Suamataia so of course he had to replace them with portal guys.

Oregons OL and front 7 are a talented grown men nasty group, and they have Mario's foot print all over them.

Oregons best WR also Mario guy in Troy Franklin.

Oregons best DL Brandon Dorlus is a Mario guy.

Oregon went 10-2 in Mario's last regular season there, and went 9-3 in Lannings first regular season there.
Wish we had gotten some of oregons good players

**** this board is toxic. Kids still have two games left. But certain posters can't just support the team during the season and save their criticism till off season. Fire Mario. Oregon is all Dan. For **** sakes people at least tone it down while the team needs us and any recruit visiting this site doesn't have to read your **** posts in every ******* thread made.

So, OP if Mario and his staff didn't build that Oregon program then I guess you are saying that Willie Taggart built it then? Lmao at that.
No I'm not saying anything about any of the other years I'm talking this year only. Alot of the production on that team comes from guys Lanning brought in and thats just the facts when alot of people on this board will have you believing otherwise. I don't see how that discredits Mario, he won two pac 12 titles there. Key words in the title of the thread "this Oregon team"

Had Mario stayed at Oregon and landed whatever QB he would have ended up rolling with in 2022 they wouldn't be near their current stratosphere. It wouldn't have been Nix.

Bucky Irving and Jordan James are good but Mario had Trey Benson too. Fair trade off. Lanning has added a few good players on defense but the majority of that defense is still Mario's guys. Plus he has 2 former players starting at Auburn right now at DT and CB. Flowe is starting at Arizona. He would have also made portal additions there. He's 2 years removed, obviously it's not his full roster and obviously Lanning's footprint is on the roster.

But the sole driver behind their success is Bo Nix and he only ended up there because of Dillingham. A Heisman caliber QB will do a lot for any program. Especially one with an OL and a defense to go with it.

This is so far from the truth.

5 of the 12 starters (pending what they run since they are a multiple defense) are Lanning’s players, & 85% of the entire defense is comprised of Lanning’s players. lol

Furthermore, Nix was considered a 5* bust prior to Oregon. Yes, his relationship w/ Dillingham got him to UO, but he’s having a historic season (literally) w/o Kenny being his OC.

It’s time to let go of the narrative that Oregon is a team that Mario built. Yes, there are a few players left over from his regime, but the vast majority of the impact players are from Lanning. ****, a guy like Dorlus, a recruit of Mario, was on the verge of bust status until Lanning took over.

I never said Nix success was because of Dillingham. He ended up at Oregon because of Dillingham.

5/12 starters 2 years removed from the program. 3 other starters transferred and are starting elsewhere in the P5.

I was agreeing that Mario isn’t responsible. He brought in about half of the starters on both sides of the ball but they’re a 7-5 team without Nix.. who wouldn’t be there if Mario was there.

Dan Lanning walked into a great situation and hasn’t messed it up.

He appears to be a solid head coach.

Or should we stay consistent and say winning at Oregon doesn’t really count because it doesn’t count for Mario?

P.S. If Lanning were here many would be be calling him a Corch for his late game management.

p.P.s. Next time can you just say “ I don’t like Mario” so I don’t have to read so much?
They are having a great year but lanning like any other coach has made some questionable decisions not to the degree of Mario but still questionable decisions. With that being said they will probably be in the college playoff next year us on the other hand it's TBD

Ahh you must be in your early 20's, still believing if someone says something remotely negative about someone that automatically means they don't like the person. Don't worry you'll grow out of it I was there once. 😉
Naw you are a redshirt freshmen to CIS who needs a lesson in THE CIS.

This board is in civil war.

And you just happen to make post #100000 on “debunking anything Mario has ever been credited for doing well”

but let me guess your just being constructive and objective…

It would’ve been a major red flag if he wasn’t successful there. The PAC 12 was terrible back then. He wasn’t playing the same schedule Lanning is.
I not even a Mario defender but do y’all ever fact check what you say or just make stuff up to support your half baked arguments.

pac-12 in 2021-2022
2 - teams with 10+ wins
2 team with 8 wins.

Pac 12 this year
2 teams with 10+ wins
2 teams with 8 wins.

The truth is in the middle. Mario left Oregon in a much better place with talent than anytime in the programs history. Most coaches first gigs are after coaches were fired and they’re taking over a mess. That job was very much appealing for Lanning. But Lanning did take the roster and production on field to another level than Mario. Ironically the defensive coach solved all the holes with the offense , bringing in a good OC and qb.

I was on grassy and shadow's board when you were watching Hey Arnold kid. You think this is civil war? Lol...I can tell you haven't been doing this long. This is nothing compared to how divided the fan base was on Butch. Nobody is debunking anything about what Mario did at Oregon except the myth that all the playmakers on this years Oregon team our Mario's guys. Mario won two pac 12 titles at oregon and no one can take that away from him even if they tried.

The only other decent team in the conference that year DESTROYED Mario twice.

8 win UCLA sucked and lost Fresno. They didn’t beat a single good team all year and we’re so scared to play NC State they cancelled the bowl game lmao

8 win Arizona St wasn’t good. Their best win was against UCLA

You have no idea what you’re talking about.

**** the new talking point is taking away from what Mario did at Oregon lol

it’s going to be a long terrible offseason
Nobody is taking it away. Just truthfully looking at the situation and realizing he didn’t actually do anything that wasn’t already happening at that school for the last 20 years.

Good for him to not ***** it up. But that’s a far stretch from him supposedly being a “proven program builder” based off of his time there.

Would you consider Ryan Day a proven coach and program builder?

You do realize Lanning is 0-1 against ranked teams this year? The ACC is a much tougher conference than the PAC.

Reading comprehension is at an all time low.
You mean all-time low, right? The word is hyphenated. You stated his record was 12-11, then went on to say he blatantly cost us a game, which implies his record should be 13-10. Not my fault you don't know how to express your thoughts clearly.

Two things can be true at once:

1) Dan Lanning was born on 3rd base

2) The early returns indicate Lanning is a better head coach than Mario, at least as it pertains to game management and offensive philosophy.

I think if Lanning is our head coach with this roster, we win the GT game and maybe one other game. But that’s probably it. Bo Nix is the real difference maker.
Didn’t Lanning f up against UW pretty big giving them the ball at midfield with 2 minutes left.
