Mario Blames Dawson [for not calling a kneel down]

Dawson deserves to get thrown under the bus for his garbage game plan. GT just fired it's DC last week. They didn't bring in Belicheck to overhaul the D in a few days. UM should have easily found ways to score points.

If TVD is sucking balls and missing all his reads, then sit him and put Jacurri Brown in the wildcat for a couple series. Or see what Williams can do. Give TVD a chance to get his head on straight. GT could not stop the run, so try to be creative with the run game. At minimum, UM should have scored 35 points. That's not a big ask for a home game against a mediocre opponent that just fired its DC. If Dawson does his job, then Chaneys fumble has zero effect on the outcome.

All I can say is that at least we don't have to worry about Cristobals ****ty QB recruiting this offseason because TVD isn't going to the NFL this offseason. I hate to be harsh about a college kid, but the fact is that he's had quite a few awful games in his career and NFL teams aren't going to take a chance on him. He's not an athletic freak like Richardson where some team might roll the dice. Nor is he a "scrappy leader who just finds ways to win" (i.e. a Tebow type who is mechanically awful but can will his team to victory). TVD gets into his own head too often. If he starts off having a bad game, chances are he's going to keep having a bad game. Don't get me wrong here - TVD is [BGCOLOR=initial]a decent college QB, but I simply don't see a NFL QB. On the bright side, one could have said the same about FSUs QB a couple years ago, but additional years did wonders for him. TVD needs another full season worth of good tape if he truly has nfl aspirations. [/BGCOLOR]

Mario quote after the game "Some times we can get carried away, but I should have just stepped in and said hey take a knee.”
In a world that anyone will say or type on a message board anything as the undeniable truth, I call B.S. on this. Provide the evidence...

He's right. 247's "everything Mario said" does not have what you all are saying. He gave a generic "WE should have taken a knee" without naming persons and particulars...
...they asked Richt on one of the post-mortem shows and he said there is a staff member that keeps track of time and timeouts and victory formation issues who should have the paygrade and expertise to blurt out what needs to be done, or at least uncertainty so a TO can be called to assess... THAT GUY failed and should be relieved of his duties. Others (Mario/Dawson...)are human and didnt catch it, but yes SHOULD HAVE. (Not sure its fireable., IMHO.)
Dude me and my boy literally said “game “at the same time after the last first down. Posters on the football board was saying “ why aren’t we kneeling “myself 🧝included. You know why we said that ? We’ve played and watched football for over 36 years. It’s common **** sense to know how many plays are left when the opponent has no timeouts. If you need another coach to help explain that to you we have an enormous problem on our hands. This is as dumb and hair brain as mistakes as you’ll see in coaching and he’s being laughed at around America by other football people.

Someone. Somewhere. Anywhere….has to be like “yo coach your math…”

If you watch Mario's interview, he's not taking shots at Dawson. He's saying he shouldve stepped in and called for a knee, but he didnt realize the situation. He's taking the blame as the buck stops with him.

Its ******* moronic that he didnt realize the situation. But also, Dawson calls the plays and we all know it. We all agree Mario shouldve overridden Dawson. He said exactly that.

What were you all expecting Mario to say? Lie and say "Dawson wanted to kneel but I wanted to run"?

This was a failure of ego on Dawson's part and a failure of leadership and arithmetic on Mario's part. Also, everyone here saying Mario was taking shots at Dawson and the relationship is ****ed, watch the 5 min post game presser instead of reading a quote and you wont have that opinion. You'll think Mario is an idiot, but he didnt blame anyone.

It’s Mario’s fault. It’s Dawson’s fault. It’s every single offensive coach’s fault on the headsets who aren’t SCREAMING “victory formation, victory formation”

It’s the most inexplicable loss I’ve ever witnessed for any team, not just Miami, in my entire life. It literally gets no more embarrassing. But it’s Mario’s fault because he’s the head coach and it’s his team. However every single guy on that sideline wearing a polo should be ashamed of themselves.

How this season doesn’t totally torpedo after that, I have no idea. But we’ll see.

Really, really. . . really? You’re the head coach, pal - it’s on you & you alone

Just to play Devils advocate: this could be interpreted to mean he should have recognized it and stepped in but also admitting he too did not realize it and is at fault for not realizing it and letting it happen on his watch.

Obviously no way to know if that's what he meant, and the simplest interpretation is throwing Dawson under the bus...but...it could also be what I suggest he meant.

Who knows? All I know is the coaching staff as a whole **** the bed at the end of the game.

Mops looking for who to blame and blaming the wrong person. If Chaney didn’t fumble the ball, we win and no one talks about Miami not taking a knee. Simple.

Mario allowed Dawson to do his job…call plays. Is this not what we all asked Mario to do. He did what we asked, but we hang him because Chaney fumbled.

Some of you guys are nuts.
You thanked Marios wife before he ever coached a game. This is dense.

Mario's best course of action is to blame CTE. Just say,

"Believe me, I know the right [BGCOLOR=initial]move was to kneel and end the game. But I played a lot of football in my day and took a lot of blows to the head. Sometimes I don't think so good. Sometimes I get confused where I parked my car and wander the parking lot for hours, and then one of the coaches had to remind me that I took the metrorail to work. I didn't think my CTE would affect my coaching, but I see now that I need a helper to make sure this doesn't happen again. So going forward I want to introduce you to my new assistant. He's Chinese. Or Japanese. I dont remember exactly but he's Asian and he's very good at math. He will keep track of timeouts and calculate when we can kneel out the clock. Thank you for your time, now let's get ready for NC State."[/BGCOLOR]

Well, that’s not good for that relationship.

New OC incoming.

I wouldn’t stick around for a boss that throws me under the bus like that.

Seems like it was Dawson's call and Mario didn't step in like he said he should have.

"We trust our offensive coordinator," Restrepo said. "We trust each other."

Miami outgained Georgia Tech 454-250, had 23 first downs to the Yellow Jackets' 12, and none of it mattered. Georgia Tech found a way, and Van Dyke didn't throw blame at anyone but himself -- even when asked after the game if he was surprised offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson didn't call for a kneel-down.

"We trust our offensive coordinator," Restrepo said. "We trust each other."
