Its far from a push. If it were, no one would have built their own stadium.

The returns would be much more than what we get from Hard Rock.
My father was the Orange Bowl Stadium Manager from 1960 to 1979. During baseball season, he managed the old Miami Baseball Stadium and was responsible for both 24/7-365. Managing a stadium is challenging at best.

Privately owned stadiums can make money but profits are variable based on many factors. Robbie didn’t build HRS to make money. He built it because he was fed up with the City of Miami - owner of the OB - that was unwilling to make upgrades.

That's to Melreese. I was talking about to the university. If they're going to build it there, it's still 6 miles from campus and other schools will still recruit by calling it an off campus stadium, so what did it really accomplish?
That’s what I am wondering. Drive down turnpike, turn off dedicated exit. Park. Experience tailgating, game at my level of engagement.

Or drive further to not be on campus and to get what out of it?

Could be cool. Could be a pain in the ***.
 
Stadium isn’t going to happen but people fail to realize how much money is lost by not having its own venue to host games and other events.

Finally! Thank u. Besides our Nike disagreement (lol), we generally see eye to eye. This is all I’m talking about.
 
The only way a program should never have its own stadium is if it’s impossible to do it. The benefits of having your own stadium will always outweigh the benefits of leasing one.
Math disagrees with you. FSU and Tenn are both choking on their stadium upgrade costs.

Would have made more sense to share a field with the MLS team. I agree economics don’t make sense, but that does not stop every other team with a stadium.
 
Yes, it’s next to the Forum. The Staples center is on the other side of town. Yes, the owner of SoFi used his own $, but the city of Inglewood had to approve, w/ many residents up in arm b/c it’s in a zoned/commercial residential area. That meant ppl’s homes & businesses were up & demolished.

Again, the city & the owner had to come to an agreement that was mutually beneficial. All this road construction, lighting, permitted parking, etc. all that is on the city. The stadium took years of negotiating, planning, etc.
How were the homes and businesses acquired and by who? We’re they all free market transactions or was condemnation by the City involved?

Eminent Domain, my friend. City bought out several residence from their homes (mostly apartments)

Partners, so in essence, yeah they do. It’s under the jurisdiction of the city, and they are the managing partners.

It is city/state taxpayer money, keeping city employees working with all kinds of entertainment tax carve outs ..... same reason why Hollywood still alive there along with their elites... huge tax exemptions if you are in the entertainment business.... while the rest get fleeced
