U’ve been to SoFi while it’s not remotely complete. Lol. The parking is still not complete nor the surrounding amenities. U’ve been to the shell of SoFi.

Primary focus is AD/Coach, no doubt. But when you have alums/boosters who play the "if money was no object" game, you have to have a second train of thought...

9 out 10 times the people wanting an on campus stadium have no idea what they're talking about. the other 1 out of 10 lives close to the campus.

I know. Its not possible to put on campus. Near marlins park like @TheOriginalCane posted wouldnt be a bad spot. I am arguing nuertral location and more suiting for a college football team

More like 13 miles (distance from I-95 Ives Dairy exit to I-95 Dolphin Expressway exit), but I'm not going to get into a fight about it.

As for what the new stadium would entail, I'm not so sure about "fewer amenities and bleacher seating". Nothing has been proposed yet. UM being UM, I'm sure there will be plenty of amenities baked into whatever ends up making it to the drawing board.

Would be a costly, uphill battle and it may never happen, but when has that ever stopped Dade County real estate developers?

Never say never.

Not sure if there was any "grandfathering", I'm just repeating what another poster said about the challenges faced by the Inter Miami stadium.

I'd still love to see something off of NW 7th Street, either at NW 12th Avenue or NW 37th Avenue (Douglas Road). Would be about as close to "getting back the old OB" as we could probably ever come.

It was great for that 10-0 start in 2017—and the turnover ratio form 2016-2017 improved greatly; a motivational prop that captured college football (no better than when it was busted out in the rout of the Irish.)

Five years later guys are busting it out when down 27-0 to Alabama, as well as stupid rings when losing 41-10 in the same game.

The Chain was a fine concept, but Manny never got a handle on it when he was head coach—and while he was stumbling to a 21-15 record in three years, his players overused the props and let it DISTRACT from the task at hand; winning football games.

Looking forward to a new era of Canes football where our players aren't showing off ring and chain photos on their social media from some game where Miami got its teeth kicked in by an inferior foe.

Distance was about 6 or 7 miles if you drive up US 1 and then north on SW 17th Avenue (stopping off at the great Casola's Pizza, of course).

The original (100 year old) campus design was to put the stadium in the dead-center of campus, where "Lake" Osceola is now. The only waterway on campus originally was a canal. UM dug out Lake Osceola (and sold the dirt to build the original Rickenbacker Causeway) and now we no longer have a spot for a football stadium on campus (I'm not even going to get into my brilliant Mahoney-Pearson corner redevelopment idea).

Anyhow, the "rhetoric" is largely historical, and it made more sense before certain newer buildings were built, but it could only ever happen if old stuff was torn down. Which might happen, but I'm sure the President/BOT have higher priorities for the teardown land than a football stadium.

That's to Melreese. I was talking about to the university. If they're going to build it there, it's still 6 miles from campus and other schools will still recruit by calling it an off campus stadium, so what did it really accomplish?

I’m not sure of the guidelines in London, but what prompted Tottenham to build their own stadium? How’s their following compared to Chelsea or Man City? Btw, I’m a huge Man U fan. (Don’t hate me. Lol)

When maintenance and labor costs are considered - including admin costs - it’s probably a push. Add to the fact that running a stadium is much more complex than one might think.

Its far from a push. If it were, no one would have built their own stadium.

The returns would be much more than what we get from Hard Rock.

Highly doubt it - why would sports franchises constantly be pushing for new stadiums, then? Answer, ROI is huge when factoring in ads, concessions, and an assortment of other uses, especially if it’s mostly funded by public monies/offerings. It’s not a short term ROI - it’s a long term one.

Oh right, that's a fair point. I thought we were talking about the "Hard Rock" vs. "New Orange Bowl" drive differential. My bad, my apologies.

I guess I would say that the "they play in an off-campus stadium" smack didn't impact RECRUITING (and all other fan-based smack doesn't bother me) as much when we were in the OB as much as it does currently while we are in Hard Rock.

Let's be honest, a lot of the Gator/Semenhole c0cksuckers who like to talk about our off-campus stadium are THRILLED to go to Dolphins games and concerts at Hard Rock instead of the old OB (and they don't care about driving differential). So they really don't care, except for using it to build the recruiting myth of "every recruit wants to play in an on-campus stadium".

I've made it clear where I stand, I love my alma mater and I would love to have our stadium CLOSER to campus (if on-campus is impossible). I understand the "demographics and drive-time" counterarguments, though. I'm not as dumb as I look. I realize their are lots of valid points.
