Manny on Joe Rose

Really don't care what he says. Manny say a lot - and most of it's bullsh!t. He's already set this program back another couple years and for that he's still got a job (unbelievable). Since he's not going anywhere it's time to walk the walk. That starts with getting the right people in the right places. All talk though until we see the product.

Exactly. People acting as if Manny knowingly hired a completely unqualified, incapable person to be OC are using some serious revisionist history. At the time of the hire, it was widely considered a major win for UM per pundits, sports writers, and college football experts across the board. Multiple articles considered it to be one of the best CFB hires of that offseason. Yes, it turned out to be a complete dud, but Manny was far from the only person who was fooled.
It was considered a major win if you ignored actual on-field production from Enos-coached teams. The main thing idiots parroted about it being a win was that we "stole" him from Alabama. When it came to statistics it was clearly a dud hire.

If Manny doesn't see that the culture is in fact not fixed, but has actually gotten worse, then he's completely clueless and incapable of seeing reality. That's a shame because he's doing something our last 3 coaches were unwilling to do, which is making changes to try to get better.

He went to see Jimmy and apparently didn't learn much. We know what was taught but clearly it got lost in translation. Maybe this go round he should VERY QUIETLY have Jimmy come shadow him for about a month or so and then tune out the world when he speaks and apply EVERYTHING Jimmy tells him this time.

Right, so all of the experts were fooled just like Manny. The hire was universally touted as a great one, so all of the analysts were just idiots.

College football is a arms race. You are only truly competing with the big boys if you don’t mind spending big boy money. That is across the board. Support staff, coaches, recruiting, facilities. Why UM hasn’t caught on to this concept I don’t know. Football brings in so much money I thought that decision would be able to be made with your eyes closed.
Stop trying to do it the Dollar Tree way.
We didn’t fail offensively because of budget. We failed because of the choice of offensive staff.

He did something that none of the other coaches from the last two regimes did which was fire someone who he hired

At least we know he isn’t retarded

"Manny" hasn't set this program back. Blake James, the President, the BOT and the new 6 or 7 win standard that they want is where this program is at.

Stop solely blaming one person for this.

LOL at giving this clown credit for firing the easy, painfully obvious choice in Enos after overseeing a losing season where they got dominated by TWO G5 teams. He had ZERO relation to Enos before this season.

He’s no different than Golden or Richt until he puts team success before his buddies and improves this coaching staff. Even if he buys the defensive stats he can’t honestly believe that we can’t do better than those 2 payasos in Panda and Bratke. Especially if his claim of Flake giving him whatever resources he needs to improve this program are true.

The culture has changed. It's way worse. Effective leadership has been replaced with social media marketing. The culture is at rock bottom.

I'm honestly less concerned about the Enos f*ck up. He took a gamble on the guy and lost badly. Thankfully Manny didn't double down and hold onto Enos any longer than necessary. Do your due diligence this time and hire an OC who has a proven track record of putting up big offensive numbers.

But what I'm most concerned about is the locker room culture. This I think will be Manny's achilles heel. A head coach has two main responsibilities: Make sure his team is prepared each week, and make sure the team stays motivated to play. It's obvious the guys weren't prepared week in, week out. But it's also even more obvious that guys just didn't give a sh*t any more. They quit on him in Year 1, and I just don't see him being able to turn that around and win the respect of the team.

Manny's got only one last chance to show the team that he made mistakes, fixed them and now they are in position to succeed. We will know by mid-season if he's a goner or will hang around for awhile.

Exactly. Fans think coordinators can just scrap their playbooks and everything they know midseason and morph into Air Raid guy. Penos is who he is and did what he knows how to do.
Sadly, same goes for our QBs. They know.... Aw ****, I don't know what they know.
