Manny on Joe Rose

Believe it or not, it was a dud because of mainly because of Manny. Enos is a **** OC, but he could’ve adapted had there been a head coach that told him to adapt his offense. Mannys lack of respect by enos was a major problem and I bet he runs into it again if he hires an established name.
Enos ran what he knows

Manny is absolutely full of ****! Joe Brady needed to be announced as our OC already. He is Al Golden reincarnated. Can’t recruit, doesn’t adjust, lousy in game coach and all along sounds good doing it. Get him outta here.

Said looking for dramatic change on offense, going to a spread uptempo. Has spoken to 7 guys from college and pros.
I'll give Manny credit for actually telling one of his hires to pack his **** and find another home--something that last 3 coaching staffs refused to do that resulted ultimately in sinking their coaching careers here at Miami. Manny is still amateur hour but firing incompetent people is a step in the right direction.

You can bump whatever thread you wish. Doesn't change the fact that the near consensus view of the CFB experts was that Enos' hiring was a major win for Miami, ranking it among the best hires of that year. So maybe "WhatTheHell" turned out to be right, but almost every CFB expert and sportswriter was then wrong.
Lazy journalism. A cursory Google search told us that Enos never had top offenses aside from one decent season at Arkansas when he had a lot of talent on the OL, and that he wasn’t even calling plays at Bama.

In his first interview he said he wanted this type of offense. But I think he got caught up in wanting to see the headline “Miami hiring Bama’s OC to same position” and the momentum that alone could produce.
And I think he thought Enos was bringing Hurts with him. Would've been huge on the field with his legs and in the locker room.

“The issue is the enormity of offense and plays, can you detail that out and be outstanding at it?”

Dude just spews a bunch of gibberish that means absolutely nothing and people fall for it.

LOL at believing the guy that “feels good” about landing Stevenson, Flowe and countless others has been in contact with 7 to 8 OC’s.

That means he spoke to 3, left a message for 1 and got a text back from the other 3 saying “Sorry I can’t talk right now”

It is easy to say go to the spread a year ago. Manny is an old school Cane head like most of us. We laughed at the spread for years cause Miami played pro style better than anyone in country when we had the beasts to do it.

I am not a Manny apologist, dude needs to get this right or he will be DCing at a small school somewhere else. I do believe he cares and wants Miami to be great, not just a paycheck. He has had some hellish defenses and Enos gave him fits. Easy to see why he would think that would work here. It failed miserably. Now Manny realizes that we dont have the dawgs, SoFla uses more spread concepts in high school then anywhere in the country. Recognize mistakes and adapt. He seems to be doing that better than any coach we had in past 15 years. Golden would not fire D'nonfrio. Richt would not fire Lil Richt, Shannon fumbled a ton of hirings. At least he saw an issue and will attempt to fix.

To have success at this level you need to be well ahead of the curve, not ridiculously behind it. So sure, props for recognizing the obvious and not being as stubborn as his predecessors but to me it's not terribly inspiring. Local h.s. football started going with more up-tempo spread concepts.. what.. 10 years ago?

One thing Manny Is good at is speaking in absolutes and putting himself in a corner. Here are a few examples:

1) Plan is to win the coastal
- Result: It’s a REBUILD & then it’s not a rebuild. Lost to GT, FIU, Duke & La. Tech.

2) Offense is the issue. We will fix it. The QB will always have an option with the ball.
- Result: Fires the OC and blames Offense for mostly everything and to date, no changes to defensive coaching staff.

3) The Culture is fixed -
- Result: many players seem not to care if they lose. Players transferring mid season and after season.

Many more examples to cite but **** this politician who hasn’t fulfilled most promises to date. This should not be a “train the coach” type of job. That is what the lower conferences are for so please, enough with the “he cares,” “he loves Miami,” etc, etc.

Most of us here love and care for Miami but that doesn’t make us qualified to be the HC at Miami. Stop making excuses for this guy.

Translation: Our offensive sucks *** and I have absolutely no idea how to fix it.

He saw being able to say he hired someone from bama

Also enos was fairly well regarded in coaching circles but I think manny was blinded by the fact he could hire a bama guy and brag

This. It was more about the hype around hiring a Bama guy than it was about hiring the right guy.
