Mallory Gone (senior bowl)

That's genuinely Lashlee just positioning himself to use Mallory's success in the NFL (if he has any) as a recruiting tool.
Ok, good for him & smart move. Also give Lashlee credit for taking the time & effort to show up in Mobile.

I think Mallory is another kid who will play much better in the league than he did at Miami.

Coming from such an illustrious Coaching family he’ll definitely be prepared to handle the demands of the NFL better than most. Not a Broncos fan, but it would cool if he got drafted by them & got to play for his Dad.

Mallory reminds me of a Hunter Henry type, good receiving TE not really a great blocker, but can move the chains & be a chunk yardage weapon in the middle of the field if utilized in the right offense.

As long as the Colts don't put him inline and leave him one on one vs DEs, he should be able to make an impact in the NFL. As long as he stays healthy.

Also, I just saw that he ran a faster 40 at the combine than Charleston Rambo did at about 30 pounds heavier.

he was pretty fast coming into Miami.

Can we please start recruiting guys who produce in college and not the NFL?? The gata way...
He did produce at UM as a pass catcher. But his blocking was so bad that he may as well have just been in the slot the entire time. Ultimately he will run into this same issue in the NFL and will be a situational player. If he could not block college DE’s he has almost no chance of blocking NFL DE’s.

Over 500 yards receiving in the worst offense that’s ever been fielded at Miami, catching passes from 3 different QBs and almost completely reversing the trend concerning his drops

He will be missed this year
Was thinking this as I rewatched the 2021 games....

115 receptions and 14 touchdowns. He was really taking off second half of 2021 until he got dinged up. Not a traditional inline tight end. He will have a nice NFL career.

Well if there was anything to pull out of that scheme, TE were gonna be highlighted.. Rewatching the games they were running three wr with no routes to set picks for Mallory on plays, we ran that play all season.. lol.. Some might see a feature, some might see a bug

They got the passing game coordinator from the Jaguars, Jim Bob Cooter as the OC and Shane Steichen from the Eagles.

They're gonna mix Pedersens style in the passing game with the run scheme they ran with the Eagles. Its gonna be perfect for Richardson and Mallory will be lining up all over the place.

Because he was a reliable target and one of the few players that could get YAC

The league is full of Pro Bowl tight ends that can't block anybody.

I did miss the “bug” part at the end there

Man…that’s a nice way of putting it. Gattis offense was more like if Ebola and the Bubonic Plague had a baby together than a bug, but I totally get your point

Dude is going to ball and the Colts are raving about him. 🤷‍♂️

I've been saying this for a while. Mallory's downfield/stand-up blocking skills far exceed his inline blocking skills.

Just need the Colts to use him correctly.

Its gonna be interesting to see the evolution/growth of wr room this upcoming season.. Hope they ball out..

And agreed with Gattis, any time I hear anything like saving the offense/playbook.. I know we are in for some BS.. Good teams LIGHT THE SCOREBOARD REGARDLESS OF OPPONENT..
