Malachi Toney [is not hurt]

Why do people do this with the thread titles? Should be an automatic temporary ban if you just put a dude's name with no context.

If he ends up starting in the slot. Which is a fairly big if, he could lead the team in receptions. If he splits snaps in the slot, which is believe is the most likely scenario, we’re looking at 30-40 receptions. Maybe 4-500 yards?
Week 1 or entire season?

Some porsters are ready to say that will be a stat line before halftime against ND.

I am a suspicious person by nature. When the talking points are all the same (Jojo), then they all simultaneously shift to the same new talking point (Toney), it makes me question the true source of the info. Which then makes me question the motivation to put out that info.

That said, I saw Toney live many times and the leap he made mentally and physically from 2023 to 2024 was significant. If he continues that trajectory he could be great. A TF leading the team in receptions is a big ask, though.

I believe the hype is legit. It's just too universal. And Moore is getting a lot of buzz, too, across the board. But I agree with you on the production expectations. We have three legit slots, they'll all get turns. I think Daniels and Trader are more likely our top producers. But I honestly don't care. Wherever Beck wants to distribute the ball is fine by me. I hope Lofton, Bauman and our RBs get in the action, too.

I think we are in a bit of trouble if a true freshman without elite size or speed is our leading receiver.
I have to admit I’ve had this thought. I’m generally optimistic about our team this season, and I don’t think it’s necessarily true that if Malachi breaks out and is a key weapon, if not THE key weapon, on offense that it would be a bad thing.

But I can also envision a scenario where it’s not awesome either. From a distance, since I’ve never seen the kid play in person or on Greentree, I do hesitate a little when you think about guys like AR and J Smith who are elite as freshman. They just seem to be a different body type and athlete. Truly rare specimen.

But then again, I don’t actually know what Toney is made of. So I’ll stay optimistic and ride with you guys who know better.

lol he excels in areas just as important then size n speed, we aalready know slots eat in this offense if they are able to find open spaces in the defense, have reliable hands, and yac ability..it isnt a slight to the other WRs because hes not built like JJ Smith(even tho he's plenty athletic)

On offense, the last freshman phenomenon I can remember is Duke Johnson

I guess Mauigoa but OL doesn’t get the hype of skill guys

We are due….. maybe have two with Moore
Ahmmon Richards

You should know by now that new new players surpass returning players as the best every year. Bain and Mauigoa are already JAGs, Lofton quickly on his way.
Big fan of Toney’s potential of course. Probably a 5 star ish player if he stayed in his class

Also understand that the slot position will get a lot of action in this offense

Restrepo was probably one of if not the toughest dude on the team. His S&C was on another planet and he took an unbelievable beating last year

Sometimes I think people play too much NCAA on the PS5 but here’s to hoping a high school kid is just that far advanced physically
