*Ryan Collins was Luke's boy and had issues with Errickson, not Butch.
Crudup's dad was the one who had the publicity with DC, and that was Coker.
If the joke just flew over my head and all that was intentional then bravo.

Man Ive agreed with you a bunch in the past but I think you are being biased here. First and foremost I do not reside in Miami, so excuse me if I am off on all the details of everything. The Kirkland situation was messed up but it seemed pretty clear and cut for me. Here is what I do know, Miami and its fans(according to all types of people on different Miami sites including ones on this site) were under the impression that Kirkland was gonna end up at Miami. On the flip side FSU fans were running around laughing at us and saying that Kirkland was gonna end up a Nole just like M Thomas. Then out of the blue, we hire FSU's ace in the hole S Florida recruiter as our new OC and within a weeks time, not only did the Kirkland sage unfold but reality set in that Thomas wasnt coming here. Using deductive logic and what we heard from others, it was clear that Thomas and Kirkland were FSU silents and Coley gave us this info. Why else would Al have done what he did? It makes no sense whatsoever. You say that Ice persuaded Thomas to pick up the phone when Miami called, but why did the staff think Thomas was coming for so long as reported by posters like Pete and others? If it was all gravey why the confusion as it related to the staff? When that all goes down Luke goes on a rant against the staff that came off very racially driven.
I think both Ice and Luke do love Miami but their actions at times show otherwise as they did last recruiting cycle. Im gonna give Ice credit for D Jackson, that was a great heads up, gotte give credit when it is apparent that credit is due, but Im gonna call BS when it looks and smells like BS and the Kirkland situation was BS. Maybe Luke has a weird way about him, but his words and actions last cycle were really detrimental to Miami and we were being laughed at by our rivals. I will give Luke or Ice credit when it is due but I just cant ignore it when they do things that are not only head scratchers but outright shots at the program.

^ I agree with this. Some of y'all have real selective memory. We have 3 BTW kids committed at the moment and a few more looking. We have 2 MNW DEFENSIVE players committed for 2014 and possibly the jewel of last years class Artie Burns here as well. As for Ice being ****ed after the Kirkland thing.... I kept my mouth shut at the time because everyone was on a negging rage but a coach has to defend and look out for his players. And thats exactly what he did. Some of y'all don't get that because you've never played any type of organized sport. Its the exact same as a Dad defending his kid. What did you guys want Ice to say? Come on.

Man **** all that **** about him hurting the program when it was down. Reality is this i guaranteed you golden has not lost a recruit because of the ncaa or what luke said. That's the bull**** those guys told golden but they didn't come because we ****** sucked and ag had not proven anything. Look at this year we are ranked,we beat uf and now these recruits are talking different about miami.

Luke is a ****** and a piece of ****, of course he got fired. Happy to see him get tossed out on his ***. Hopefully a car drives by through a puddle and splashes a giant wave over his body while he's waiting for the bus home.

hopefully this means there is no more outlet at this website for him. there should be no more need to interview now that he is not at a local feeder school.

i dont give two ***** about Luke one way or another but lets be real here:
1. Luke is a big fan of Miami, you can't really dispute that
2. Luke has said some bad **** about miami, especially after the Kirkland issue, thats a fact
3. Just b/c he coaches at a school that has Miami commits doesn't mean that he 'gave' us the kid. the staff recruited those kids and the same goes with Ice at BTW. If thats the case then we can blame them for every kid that has a miami offer at their school that doesn't commit here then right? Idk either coach personally so I dont know about their personal feelings toward AG is or if they are racist, but I do know that having kids on their teams commit to miami doesn't prove or disprove either statement. I'm gettin tired of people saying AG missed on any kid with an offer that doesn't come but when he does get commits its due a high school coordinator, GTFOH

Draw it up however you want, Luke knew his defense and that was the only reason Northwestern was staying relevant; besides that this team might even be worse than Columbus. As far as the effect he had on recruiting, surely his comments on air about Golden weren't necessary as were his antics , but he did give UM a little help with him being a main coach at a local powerhouse school.

I was thinking this the whole time I was reading this Luke blow-fest of a thread. Did we never get kids from MNW prior to Luke? That place has been a feeder school to us for a long time. Luke and Ice also take those same kids to camps at just about EVERY major school to get their kids out there. And they get PAID to do it. So lets not go off giving them all kinds of credit, it is still our staffs job to close the door and they have done a nice job of doing so. This does not have to be a one or the other situation. But at the same time its not like LUKE is doing something for us he is not doing for any other school, really he is doing it for his players. And that is a good thing.
I also do not live in sofla, but this does seem a bit odd to have a DC fired mid season. Something smells fishy on that one. Maybe it was Luke, maybe its the new coach. Maybe its a situation where Luke has such a good relationship with the players that is is taking away from what the new coach is trying to instill. It could very well be a situation of him undermining the new coach without really meaning to. I really do not know. However I dont like the idea of giving a high school DC all kinds of credit for having a couple players committed to a school.
Good luck to Luke. If he truly has done such a great job coaching those kids up I am sure someone will try to add him to their staff. There is no shortage of schools in the area.

Guy is obviously a UM fan and would do anything for the school. Funny how he tried to call out shapiro for doing the same thing

This argument does not hold...
I played competitive sports... team(basketball, soccer, volley) and indivivual(Jiu Jitsu, Judo, swimming) and had some great coaches... and a few not so much. The common point between the best ones? They always showed character in stress situations. Theres no way that going to the press to blast coaches that can´t defend themselves in the same way is a great move. If you think so, well, we have a very different view of what is right or wrong in life.
Also, in college I had to do some coaching to graduate. I had several problems to deal with, but I did what I learned with my former great coaches, in organized sports you solve problems privately, period. There´s no other way to do it.
As Kirkland coach, Ice had all the right to call Golden and privately/face to face tell all he wants... but going to Miami Herald and do that **** is not a classy/man move, never will be.
Ice apologists need to come with a better argument.

Here is what I dont understand..First off, to the posters who hate Luke and wish he catches the Aids virus and dies a slow death..You say you hate Luke because of all the stuff he has "done to Al" and how he turns on the program blah blah blah..But Al has PUBLICLY made his peace with Luke and according to many here who have went to camps say they are visually Cool. Hugged on two different occasions at the camps he went to last summer. No bad blood. So what the F is your problem? Al gave us the okay to be cool with Luke. Sounds like alot of you have personal problems with Luke.

And on a side note..If you idiots really believe Luke would have played "Nevin Shapiro" and ratted on the entire program and brought it down (Kinda like Dan LeBatard did) you guys must not be over the age of 30 or you are not from South Florida. Luke loves this program like Michael Irvin. It was a stupid bluff. Should he have done it? No. But anybody who knows anything about this prgm knows that Luke would not have done that. If would have slit his own wrist first. Period.

Luke played the race card in the media to try to extort the program into starting a player because he was black. That has nothing to do with whether or not he was willing to actually follow through on his ridiculous threat. He publicly injected race into a situation that had nothing to do with race. Collins' dad, in fact, was irate at Luke for using his son as a pawn. It was totally uncalled for and it hurt the program. It made Butch's job that much harder. I can look at Al Golden's life and what he represents and very safely give him the benefit of the doubt. Luke, not so much. If the guy wants to be a leader of men, like Al has proven to be, then he needs to mature. He needs to stop using race, whether expressly or tacitly, as leverage. And he needs to understand how to think before he talks to the media. It's that simple.
Ok I get your point. But at what point are people going to just get over some crap that happened 20 years ago? And clearly, Al has forgiven him for the recent media outbursts so why cant we just get over it? Why keep bringing it up? Calling the guy a racist?
