Van Belle, whose thrown very few walks this season, walks 3 or 4 guys in the 4th and hits another. Gino doesn't pull him out, he lets him stay in there to give up 3 runs. Then Gino sends him back out for the next inning.
That was indeed dumb

The guys you were screaming for Gino to put out there in Van Belle's place gave up 5 runs.

You seem to have no ability to understand cause and effect or that one decision then leads to an outcome.

It's dumb to say he left Van Belle in too long when your solution gave up 5 runs in relief.

I don't think its delusional to expect less blunders and incompetent management at times.

Its one thing if we are playing a squad that runs us out of the stadium on sheer talent game after game...but that's not happening. We spent a Saturday in Louisville making a blow out game a lot closer on delay, and then blowing a 6-0 lead in the next.

I'm not going to bow down to the #5 squad after they honestly gave us an opportunity to sweep them on their turf, we just didn't take it. Not saying they are not a great squad, just saying we could be MUCH better than we are...that is the truly painful part. The scary part is thinking how these kids getting older might not fix our major issues such as fundamentals and coaching....

UM

Except college baseball players do get better, especially between years 1 and 3. It's no surprise the most fundamentally sound teams are loaded with Jrs and Srs.

We're one of the youngest teams in the country. These guys are already getting better. I know you're complaining just to complain, but its still just dumb.

Congrats on thinking Miami should win every game they play. Works great because then you can be miserable all the time

Agree but just saying why let it get to that point.

Because it's a 9-inning game and you can't just yank your starter at the first sign of trouble.

So you would've been good with Federman/Veliz going out there in the 4th and giving up 5 runs?

It's just a silly criticism that was made to look stupid about 20 minutes later.

This was the turning point. Van Belle walked in two runs and hit another kid. Gotta have someone warning and go get him before all that happens IMO. Somewhere along the line you have to start trusting some other kids.

That's where the criticism comes from. Get someone up when the current hurler is clearly laboring instead of waiting for the implosion to occur and then taking action.

Who?

You put Federman in during the 3rd inning? Cook or Gates (yeah that would be great)?

Because you're not pitching anyone who threw in Game 2 today, that would be coaching malpractice.

And they hit Federman anyways.

There wasnt a right move with the pitching today. Everyone wants to blame the coach, when Louisville just hit all of our best arms

I love that the other poster says that the coach has to start "trusting" other kids as if that's the solution.

Just throw somebody out there and "trust" them. It's hard to trust even the oldest, best pitchers in the bullpen. But just "trust" some random kid to get it done.

Good one.

So when that kid blows it they can complain about Gino's decision to put in in. Or recruit him.

It's complete nonsense.

They basically lost two starters this weekend and still almost won the series. The pitching plan was actually good and they got almost exactly what they wanted in game 3.

They had both Federman and Veliz available for long outings with the lead in the 6th inning.

But since they didn't close it out people think the coaching/managing sucked.

We even have moderators spouting this nonsense.

Here’s the deal, bud. Stop making new accounts or I’ll clean you out like spam. You won’t even get to read posts.

Not very upset at the results of this weekend considering the circumstances and an 8 game homestand coming up.

Well, we lost 9-0 over the last 8 complete innings, so something sucked.

Unfortunately, GT and NC are taking care of business today. We missed a real opportunity with the game 3 loss, and potentially hosting just got A LOT harder. Hope McKendry just tightened up from the cold.

If you don’t understand leaving Van Belle in too long changed the momentum of the game idk what to tell you. If we give up a couple less runs and that inning doesn’t last a decade we are still in control. We fell flat after that and it had everything to do with being out there standing around for so long. No too mention Federman getting up in the pen 4 times previously then having to rush to get ready. DiMare blew it today
