We don't fall below 10 wins as long he is here. One of the biggest issues he had at Oregon was defense and having the horses up front. We would run through everybody in the ACC sans FSU and Clemson just on his offense alone. Chip comes here and as long as his DC doesn't run a patty cake 3-4 would be able to field defenses he never had at Oregon.

Yeah, I hate his offense, and I don't think it will work here. It requires a lot of discipline to get lined up fast, know the play, know what to do and when to do it, and do it quickly. SoFla players have all the talent in the world, but they aren't exactly known for their discipline (and apparently, the Eagles can't figure it out either). It'd be a freaking yellow hanky festival out there. Not to mention that running 80 plays a game is really hard on the personnel. It's really difficult to keep the best players healthy for an entire season. Oregon always came out like a shot out of a cannon early in the season, but they pretty much always faded when the schedule got tougher toward the end of the season.

If this porst is true, then I'm glad to hear that the school is aiming high, but I think they can do a whole lot better than Chip Kelly.

Keep swinging for the fences and approach guys like Chip, D'Antonio, Patterson. These are the types of guys Miami should have. Would personally include Butch on that list as well.

You have no idea what you are talking about. I worked at the school when he was given a raise. He was one of the top paid coaches in the sport after 2001. And for more reading:

Why can't we have both? Chip as HC and Butch as DC/Assistant HC? We'd destroy on both sides of the ball! I know, i know, ... I'm totally geeking out right now. But, ****, it'd be marvelous. Finebaum would stroke out and everyone at ESPN would be sucking their thumbs in the fetal position 'cause the "U" would be pillaging the nation again with two NCAA outlaw coaches, LOL!!

That reason could be that he was deliberately fed misinformation. Only time will tell.

 
To say Miami won't hire Kelly because of the Oregon scandal is irritating. If he does leave the NFL, he will be hired by someone, and what will happen? He'll win there, and the Oregon issues will be long gone. Miami is never going to shake the image from the 80's, so they just need to get the best coach they can, and be done with it. To this day, when people hear where I went to school, the first thing they say is something about the players being criminals. Kelly won't need to cheat at Miami. He won't have the Nike budget anyway. He had to try to get kids to go to Oregon. At Miami, he just needs to get them to stay home.

I live in Tampa... We get Chip, I'm buying season tickets the same day. Love the idea of Butch but Chip is a grand slam.
 
Agreed. An offensive coach (like Chip) needs a solid DC. Defensive coaches (like Butch or Dantonio) need a solid OC....

No surprises here...

I think we'll end up with a solid hire (finally)....Don't know who it'll be, but any of the 3 above would be nice....
