Longtime heavy booster and Butch supporter says...

LOLOL "never". You must have become a fan in 2005. Coker was one of the highest paid coaches in the sport. We hired a NFL HC before too. Do you even know that? Are u even aware what kind of a hire Schnelly was? We did that before we had one tenth the cache and money we have now.

Dude, just stop. We don't have more money than USC. Anyone with half a brain knows this. There are things we offer that USC doesn't, but money is not one of them.

How do you know? How do u know what we are going to offer versus what USC will offer? Honestly? You don't. Stop *****ing and assuming that Miami is some small time program that can't compete with the big boys. It's ****ing infuriating.

I don't know. What I do know is that USC's endowment is more than 5x ours. What I do know is that they have already paid a head coach more than $4 million before all of these TV deals kicked in. And what I do know is that they have made a former NFL coach the highest paid coach in college football. If Miami is willing to throw $5.5 mil + at Chip like I expect USC to, then I will tip my hat to you.

Another one of these Einstein's that doesn't understand what an endowment is. SMFH. Miami has a bigger endowment than Alabama.

Do you know the difference between a public school and a private school? Let's start from square one with this guy.

Kelly's not a fit in the NFL for a couple reasons: His personality is that of a dictator, which works better with college guys than millionaires; his offense is best suited for college football.

This is why I was on the Chip Kelly movement a long time ago. I thought we should make a power move like Bama did with Saban, Michigan did with Harbaugh and Arkansas did with Petrino. Guys can be had from the NFL after they realize it's not really their scene.

If anyone can get Kelly it's a program like UM because his style is absolutely perfect for the local material. He'd be unstoppable down here.

This about covers it all. And btw, every offensive player in So Fla HS would be lined up down Ponce to join this team.

Like I said in another thread, it wouldn't be recruiting. It would be selecting.

Kelly can't recruit without Nike gear. Bad fit.

I hope you aren't serious, young padawan.

I'm not. I was trying to join the group of outlandish reasons why a coach won't fit. So I came up with one hoping to match their prowess.

Kelly would be nasty here. I would just like to see a better D. No secret that isn't his thing. He's also one of those that we really don't know how possible it is. But I would welcome him with open arms.

Do you now see why citing endowment is asinine?

I've been saying for awhile that someone was gonna get Chip back to college. He's right where Saban was years ago. NFL not working out, bolt back to college while there's some prime gigs open.

True.
I can see him at LSU or Clemson (if Dabo bolts).

Nah.
Just living in the real world.
Sorry if it's not aligned with your agenda.

In the real world where Miami has plenty of money and more cache than both of those programs? Or in the short sited last 10 years?

Having all of that money means nothing if it is not spent on the football program.
It is no different than the eccentric millionaire who eats at the local WalMart cafe for a night out instead of a fancy
restuarant.
The UM has never spent that much money on the football program.
I believe in action and past history, not fantasy world.

Guy cites endowment as reason for not getting coach.....

Then argues endowment doesn't apply.....

Clearly, an einstein in our midst.

No I don't. Public schools are subsidized, a large portion of the money they work with comes from the taxpayer and not from donations. But feel free to educate me more.

Another possible explanation for this purposeful leak could be that the BOT wants to create the ILLUSION that they're going all out, while really having no intention to do so.

They're going to go cheap again. That's their history. Bet on it.

Now that I see these threads. I believe you may be correct.

Maybe its battered wife syndrome but this smells of "players notified"....

My personal biggest fear with this search is that they'll end up with someone like Mario Cristobal when there are so many better alternatives, and claim it's because "they tried for the elite and ended up with the guy who knows the program the best." I will be fearful of that until we hire someone.

"Past History".....yes that long history of 15 years. B/c good schools have never had long periods of failure in hiring coaches.

15 years is peanuts.

Referring to me?
Where did I bring up endowment?

I certainly did not, nor do I care.
Harvard has an even larger endowment than any P5 program.
What the **** does that mean?

So in other words endowment size and coaching salaries are not at all correlated? NO WAY!!!

Was in response to Hugh who cited endowment as to why Miami can't land Chip Kelly lmfao.

I want no part of Chip Kelly. I hate his offense. I hate his style. U$C can have him.

Hate his offense??? Maybe I could agree w u if u hated his D, but Chip's scheme w So Fla offense = NCAA Football 2014 scores. I just have a problem w his D...but if he brings on a Sick D Coordinator, we would literally win about 6 out of 8 national titles.

Now do I think it will happen? Nope.

I would take Chip over Butch, and I've been on the Butch Bandwagon since Cleveland. Here's to hoping Chip gets Spurriered by the NFC East the rest of the year.

Chip Kelly, da 1 true Gawd.

Wouldn't have to worry about losing to ECU, UVA, NC St., GaTech, etc. with Chip in control of UM football.

Chip Kelly falls into that hire the best coach available scenario. Not some retread that can't beat ECU or NC St.

Chip Kelly lost to a non P5 team as well. Hello Boise Idaho!

I apologize if that fact doesn't fit your agenda but it still remains a fact.

Let's not even talk about his record vs Stanford. 2-2. Well played.

Butch is a fallback option. Chip isn't.

How many wins does Chip da 1 true Gawd average a year?
