Longtime heavy booster and Butch supporter says...

If Chip can bring Shannon back, I would not have a problem. My problem w Chip on both the collegiate and pro level is that he's so concerned w O that the D bleeds out points and yards. It's already been proven that gimmicky offensive ran teams get smoked if a defense is stout. So u don't have a D to keep u in it, then ur done....which is y Oregon has no titles

The best part of this thread is it has allowed me to ignore so many users who have been outed as complete potato morons.

Will you come back and apologize for the personal attacks when Chip Kelly is not the next coach at Miami?

Did I say they were going to hire him? No I said that Miami is a place capable of hiring elite coaches. When you were just a tiny sperm in your fathers sack, I watched this team hire an NFL coach who was one of the most respected coaches in football.

If he can adapt his offense to fit in Nick Foles, Sam Bradford, even Mark Sanchez don't see why he couldn't make Kaaya work.

First of all, CONGRATS to Laranaga's hoops for just winning the PR tourney.

-------------

Chip's "adaptation" simply isn't very good. The Eagles O is mostly pretty sad. Chip needs a dominant QB, just like everybody else. Otherwise, he seems average, at best.

I believe that Butch would build a more fundamentally sound team.

Another one of the braniacs who thinks NFL and college are even remotely the same.

This is from the guy that still calls himself GOLDEN.

Unlike all the Pollyannas on this site, I'm pointing out what Chip has done lately. Chip chose the NFL, and he's failing. That's a fact.

Of course college isn't the NFL. No one is saying that. It just happens to where Chip is at now. His performance there should be ignored?

Chip returning to college could be equivalent to Butch going to UNC. Butch proved that he could do it again. Maybe Chip can too, but why take that chance. Butch is proven.

Not reading the entire thread, so I don't know if it's been asked, but are we prepared to wait until the beginning of January? Or is Philly going to can his *** early?

Did they not make Coker the highest paid coach in football?

"Coker had three years remaining on his previous deal but will receive an immediate increase in pay that puts him among the highest-paid coaches in the ACC, according to the source."

Highest paid coach in football. LMAO. PO-TA-TO.

Let's see if I understand correctly. We have a proven guy just waiting to be offered the job, but hasn't because he had to be thoroughly vetted for merely a hint of an association to NCAA violations in which he even has official letters that exonerate him. And instead we are going after a guy that was responsible for his team's probation when he left them and was found guilty by the NCAA of violations?

Count me a bit incredulous that this is really taking place.

This is exctly my fear about Chip. Of course in his past he didn't have the South
Florida talent within driving distance so, in south Florida, he could just fall into a good defense
without trying as long as he doesn't make it super complicated like the last regime.
He still doesn't seem to have learned the lesson in the pros so it's a very legitimate
concern in my view.

You have no idea what you are talking about. I worked at the school when he was given a raise. He was one of the top paid coaches in the sport after 2001. And for more reading:

For everyone worrying about fighting against USC, just remember, Miami as a city has as much to offer as Los Angeles. Oh, except that the cost of living is lower, oh, and Florida has no state income tax versus California having a fifty percent tax rate. So don't think chip isn't smart enough to factor that into his decision.

This is where your logic is flawed. Not even the person who passed along the info said "Chip Kelly is coming to Miami." If you don't think it's meaningful to go from "not looking at any elite coaches" to apparently "we're taking an actual shot at Chip Kelly," that's your prerogative. You are certainly free to be skeptical that anything was even said. As I mentioned in the original post, just a short time ago people talked about Butch as if he wouldn't even be considered because "X, Y, Z." That was found to be false and has bearing on our coaching search.

Another question I have (besides the unanswered show clause one) - what happens to this recruiting class?

Say we hire Kelly, but can't announce it until his last game as an Eagle. That gives him.... a week? Two weeks to look at recruiting?

What did Harbaugh do with Michigan?

Liar.

And you're using a hire in 1979 to make your point? Your alzheimers is starting to show.

Also noto be a Debbie downer but we got some detractors:

If it becomes a bidding war, it's a wrap.

Nike school vs Adidas school

Own stadium vs Sun Life

Pac 12 vs ACC

West Coast vs South East

These are all things that are familiar to Chip that SC has. Imo, we will get the short end of the stick w him, unfortunately.

Chip has done better in the NFL than Saban, Butch, Petrino, Spurrier, and as a HC Howard. Do you understand that the NFL is not even remotely close to college? Like not even remotely.

Lucane's a smart poser and is passing along info from a good source.
But Salt's point above is pretty convincing.

LOLOL "never". You must have become a fan in 2005. Coker was one of the highest paid coaches in the sport. We hired a NFL HC before too. Do you even know that? Are u even aware what kind of a hire Schnelly was? We did that before we had one tenth the cache and money we have now.

Comparing promoting Coker to hiring Chip Kelly.... Bahahahaa

Come on guy, relax. We both know hiring Chip would be a monster hire, but I'm not blind to how conservative our school has been...

You aren't very bright are you? Miami has shown it will pay when necessary or when appropriate. If they think it is necessary and appropriate to pay to get Chip Kelly, they will.

when the **** have they ever? you justifying your statement by saying we paid Larry Coker is insane.

dude...close your mouth when you're enjoying those GoldenShowers, cause its rotting your brain... You need to let go of being right and look at the facts

Did they not make Coker the highest paid coach in football?

Did they not hire JJ from OK State?

DID THEY NOT HIRE A FORMER NFL HC AND ONE OF THE BEST OCs IN THE NFL????? Are you 14? Do u even know anything about this program you follow?

highest paid coach in football? You like to make **** up

they actually never paid Coker the raise that was agreed to...He was set to make $2MM upon the extension of his contract, but was fired before the extension was triggered.... So NO, they did not make him on of the highest paid coaches
