Lol at the UGA fanbase

Had they stolen Mullen from Miss State, I could see Richt's firing as being justified. Even firing Richt for Tom Herman might make sense. But for Smart? I'm not seeing it ...

Mullen would've been a downgrade...Herman would've been a HR hire. Matter of fact, I'd say Herman was their #1 target, and Smart was their #2 .

There were a very small % of Dawg fms that truly wanted coach gone, plus the AD is a doofus puppet to a few big boosters a and never liked or supported Coach in any way. With the talent he left and 2016 recruits he had already offered Kirby better win early on are he will hear from the fans who did not necessarily want him there. One real funny comment someone posted above that Mullen would be upgrade over Richt is delusional. Am still a Dawg season ticket holder, but will pull for coach and Canes where before only pulled for them when they occasionally played gaturds or Tech.

good post, if Kirby starts losing they will call for head. I truly coach Ritcht had to run the system GA wanted to run , not the same type system he ran when he was an fsu coordinator.

I wont be happy until richt allows our whole team to run on the field to celebrate like he did against florida. That was an epic move and only one a true cane would do. Kinda like sapp running through other teams pregame warmups like he did at tampa and here a couple times. Cant wait for the Richt era to begin soon.

Richt lost big games he should have won and Alabama consistently pulled top talent out of GA. It is the equivalent of us always losing to FSU every year and they winning the National Championship a handful of times with players from Miami. I like Richt and think he will do well at Miami, but his firing was just.

So, you think Kirby Smart will do well?

Because, IMO, firing Richt should have meant finding an upgrade.

And with guys like Dan Mullen, Tom Herman, and Justin Fuente available to be poached, UGA grabbed the least proven of multiple options available. They basically made a similar hire to what schools like Kentucky, Houston, SMU, Rutgers, and Maryland did .... Hired a coordinator from a winning program.

If UGA is such a plum job and infinite resource program, Kirby Smart must be a can't miss candidate.

But I just don't see that being the case ...

I didn't say Kirby Smart would do better, but GA has better athletes than every state around them with the exception of Florida and yet schools like Ole Miss, Miss St and Alabama have performed better than them. I think they could have got a more proven coach than Kirby Smart, but we shall see.

Just read this article on the AJC about Coach Richt....can someone tell me why their fans hate Richt so much? It's not like they have some rich history of wining titles in every decade....he is arguably the best coach they ever had. They are severely delusional

Because there is not a coach who did less with more talent than him in NCAA. Not hard to understand if u don't look at it with Rose colored glasses.

His classes were 5th in the SEC.....can't win the title like that in that conference

Getting blown off the field by Treon Harris every year?

Not competing for the SEC East, which has been the ACC Coastal the last 8 years or so?

No, most of us are NOT delusional as you so erroneously assume. Most of us absolutely love CMR and appreciate all that he did for us. No question he never had the support in 12 years that Kirby has had in his first. However, he also fell just short of achieving all that he should have at UGA. One less tipped pass in 2012 and he is still coaching at UGA and is a god. However, the tipped pass happened and it was time for a change. As a result you have (like it or not) one more avid Miami fan. I will always follow and respect Mark and sincerely hope he can win the NC he so richly deserves.

All Kirby has to do is figure out how to stop Treon Harris from putting up 3,000 yards rushing and passing against them (Something CMR failed to do), outsmart Butch Jones, and he wins the SEC East this season. Then, UGA fans will be joining the rest of the country in laughing their asses off at us.

We got us some jackasses on this board. It's impossible to make it through a thread without seeing a litany of ignorant posts. Not sure if you all are trolling or are really that slow. Probably a little of both. It's going to be comical watching the same people that hate on the Richt hire, jump on the bandwagon here in a month or two. Just watch, they will acting like they were with us all along. Kick rocks.

That makes no sense to cheer for the SEC over the ACC. League rankings are important. The ACC needs UNC to beat Georgia decisively.

i want unc to have as many losses as possible conference or not, anything to help miami win the coastal

Non ACC wins or losses have no effect on the ACC Coastal standings. Only ACC wins and losses will determine the division winner.

With only 4 playoff spots and 5 power conferences, a bunch of inferiors plus independents (ND), conference rankings are a playoff determinant.
