Richt lost big games he should have won and Alabama consistently pulled top talent out of GA. It is the equivalent of us always losing to FSU every year and they winning the National Championship a handful of times with players from Miami. I like Richt and think he will do well at Miami, but his firing was just.
So, you think Kirby Smart will do well?
Because, IMO, firing Richt should have meant finding an upgrade.
And with guys like Dan Mullen, Tom Herman, and Justin Fuente available to be poached, UGA grabbed the least proven of multiple options available. They basically made a similar hire to what schools like Kentucky, Houston, SMU, Rutgers, and Maryland did .... Hired a coordinator from a winning program.
If UGA is such a plum job and infinite resource program, Kirby Smart must be a can't miss candidate.
But I just don't see that being the case ...
Had they stolen Mullen from Miss State, I could see Richt's firing as being justified. Even firing Richt for Tom Herman might make sense. But for Smart? I'm not seeing it ...
