Why do u keep saying he had limitations and then got hurt? Limitations that caused him to move up the depth chart to #2 RB right before getting injured???

Last I recall; Richt wasn’t keen on playing true freshmen unless it was a blow out or necessary. Before the knee injury, Lo was avg. 8 ypc. Then he got hurt a month in to the season.

He was a five-star RB that enrolled early. He still hadn’t seen meaningful snaps when he got hurt in late October. If he was ready to roll, Richt would have played him.

I’m not trying to bury Lingard. I wanted him to stay. His speed is rare and he can make an impact in the right role. But lack of wiggle and lack of contact balance held him back early, then he got hurt.

Not really worried about our RB depth with Chaney and Knighton coming in but as usual with this program, the optics suck, especially since it looks like he'll wind up at UF or UCF.

Did find it interesting that two completely separate offensive staffs couldn't get him on the field.

Another thing this thread has exposed that is NEVER talked about in here...is how much of football is the mental aspect.
People that have never played the game won't get this piece...hence why its never discussed in here.
Emotionally fragile teams will always show their colors on the field...
Watch Clemson post games....tells you everything.

Fcking disgusting and disgraceful, and it didn’t have to go this way. All they had to do was give him some snaps. It’s not like he was sitting behind Barry and Thurman.

This dude went from our Ambassador and being our hardest worker to being so turned off by our school that he’s willing to sit out another year just to go somewhere else.

Like I said in another thread, Chise, the dogs that come here are entering a rescue shelter looking to be euthanized.

Good for LL! And the best of luck to him. The bottom line is there more to the eye on WHY LL bolted Thee Gables! And my money on one reason is Manny!! Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've read the inside scoop from y'all Cane fans, that LL had his limitations and what not. Well, just watch him EXCEL at his next school!!!

Richt has always played freshman running backs. Even when he had loaded backfields at UGA, he would give the stud freshmen meaningful PT.

Exactly!

With Knighton and Chaney coming it doesn't hurt too bad. But have to wonder what was going on and if he was part of the "culture" issue that Manny is referring to getting "fixed"?
That’s an unfair comment, imo. Lingard had a good attitude by all accounts I have seen. I could believe his blocking was a concern of the staff, especially with our OL. And the injury didn’t help. But tarring him with suggestions of culture strikes me as really unfair to a good kid who has repped the U well.

Could’ve sworn Richt stated he didn’t really like to play true freshmen b/c the game is different unless he has to. Richt didn’t play a lot of true freshmen from that 18 class. Believe Brevin was the only one w any meaning snaps and that’s b/c we had no TEs; Irvin got hurt.

That’s what i recall.

Allow me to start this post by saying that I never thought Gus Edwards was any good at running back. I thought he was straight doo-doo while at UM. I also hold to the mindset that "the invisible hand of the market" is the greatest filter of truth. Given that I have to admit that I was wrong about Gus Edwards but Im still not sure why. The dude sucked in college based on my eyes. lol

I immediately saw Lingard as another Gus Edwards. Same skillset. Strangely, similar result. (transfer). It will be interesting to see this one play out.
