Why would Leavitt - a seasoned coach and one time head corch, want to coach under a buffoon of a corch?
He wouldn't. It would take him all of 3 minutes of being in Folden's presence before he choked him out.
In that case, please hire.

With the scandal miami just got over they're not touching men like this. No Leavitts, no Butches.
Several questions:
1. Will AG do what needs to be done to improve the defense?
2. If yes, will he bring the right guy in who could run a more Miami personnel friendly scheme and give him the autonomy to do it?
3. If yes, would Jim Leavitt be that guy, and would we want him?
4. He's currently the LB coach for the 49ers. Would he accept the DC position if offered?
My thoughts:
1. Yes.
2. I hope so.
3. I don't know enough about him, but seems like he'd be great. Fiery guy. Assume he can recruit since he built up USF from scratch. Knows FL schools, athletes, etc.
4. I would think so. Brings him a lot closer to home.

What kind of HC whose specialty is supposed to be the defensive side of the ball give up full authority on the defense? Do you understand how dysfunctional of an environment that would be. Also, people are acting like the defense is the only problem. Its not! This team is slow, they struggle on offense, special teams is horrid, player development is terrible, so on and so forth.THE DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR IS NOT THE PROBLEM. AL GOLDEN IS THE PROBLEM. THE DEFENSE IS NOT THE ONLY ISSUE ON THE TEAM. THE OFFENSE AND SPECIAL TEAMS ARE JUST AS BAD.Several questions:

SEE POINT#2 ON SEVERAL QUESTIONS - Key word "autonomy"

The offense is bad? Ok now ur just reaching...the offense has been all good.
Mangino's got to be about 500lbs right now.How about this staff for Golden since we know he isn't going to be gone next year:
Leavitt as D-Coordinator. I think he choked a kid
The Fat man Mark Mangino as OC. He belittled some players on the team and the players turned on him. He won an orange bowl at KU. That's unreal. He's an unbelievable college offensive mind.
These two guys have some dirt but can ******* coach. Get both of them and Golden can truly just concentrate on recruiting and being the face while these two psychos get everything out of the players.
One can only dream!!!

My top choice would be T-Rob. I think he's done a great job with the DBs at UF, he's from Miami, has shown repeatedly his ability to recruit and establish a strong presence in the S. FL community, including with kids Miami is currently recruiting. Just think he's the best candidate, and he fits completely into the kind of hires Golden has made in the past 2 years, dating back to Coley or even Cristobal (if you count that). I think there is still a very good chance there's a coaching change at UF come Dec/Jan. Even if not, that ship is likely sinking and T-Rob will likely be looking for work in the next year and a half (not that he'd have any trouble finding it). He's my top choice of candidates I can't think of off the top of my head.
I think Leavitt is just as qualified for an NFL DC job, and would likely prefer that type of an opportunity over returning to college. I don't think he'd return to college unless it was for a head job somewhere.
