Leach to FSU?

I wonder if Sam saw something in Jimmy that escaped most other people. Jimmy had some good bloodlines: Johnny Majors, Jackie Sherrill, Chuck Fairbanks, Frank Broyles.

People who were at Pitt will tell you JJ was a great assistant during his time there. One of his former players there said as much to me.

Sam likely recognized Jimmy's skills as HC while understanding the limitations of coaching at Oklahoma State. He correctly projected what Jimmy might accomplish in Miami.

A guy who carved up Big 12 and PAC 12 defenses doesn’t scare me.

He will put up numbers against the scrubs, but we have the type the type of defense that can shut his air raid down.

Play the receivers physically and pressure the passer. No defensive ends covering receivers.

Physical, athletic dbs and a strong pass rush make the air raid struggle.

He doesn’t really use the mobile qb element that it usually takes to shred a good modern defense.

Much rather see them get Leach than Urban.

Sign Leach now so we can breath a little easier.

Zero chance Urban Meyer winds up at the train wreck that is Florida State.

Less than zero, actually. Dude will have pick of the litter if he wants to get back into coaching. He ain't going there.

If he really wants back in, bump Ryan Day out and get back the Ohio State job he left in perfect shape. He's really gonna go rebuild that sh1tshow in Trailerhassee.

Wishful thinking by those delusioNOLEs.

Would they hire him at ND or too much dirt?

90% of what's made our program has depended on Sam's projection. JJ loaded the cupboard and left a culture that Erickson rode to his success. Then several years later we depended on a coach from JJ's tree to bring us back to prominence. In some way JJ had a hand in 3 if not 4 of our championships. Sam is that once in a lifetime guy....

Do you care to explain this more?

If not, where can I get more info on this?
Oh my God. It was common knowledge.....how old are you?

There was a huge split on the coaching staff. Jimmy inherited a bunch of coaches from Schnellenberger. The offensive coaches for the most part worked well with Jimmy: Gary Stevens (QB and OC), Joe Brodsky (RB), Hubbard Alexander (WR). JJ inherited a great offense and players, including Eddie Brown, Bernie, ...oh, wait, I should put numbers 40, 20, 47, 14, 84....there, for you inconsiderate and lazy posters who insist we all remember numbers...

On defense it was a different story. Johnson inherited a defensive scheme (5-2) he did not like and coordinator, Bill Trout, from Schnellenberger and Olivadotti with whom he had fundamental disagreements. That's why we fell apart against Maryland and lost a bunch of games. There were severe tensions among the staff and I believe Trout resigned before the end of the season. Did not coach the bowl game against UCLA

UCLA prepared for a Johnspn-type "blitzkrieg" but their coaches were very surprised when Miami DLs just sat back. Their coaching staff used the term "blitzkrieg." I remember the quote.

Johnson was able to install his defense the following spring and brought in his own coaches, including Paul Jette as DC. A year or two later he brought in Dave Wannstadt to replace Jette

Maybe Jim Martz gets into this in his second book on UM football.

Oh, please. Hire Leach!

I'm persuaded. Besides, he can he funny. Can you hear him talk about the FAMU womens as fat?
