and we have a coach who coached Minnesota kids into a top 5 defensive and multiple draft picks.

He literally had .5 sacks, 7 solo tackles, 2 TFL, 19 total tackles. All of which were worse than his 23’ season, at NC State. What was his job?

Maybe our definition of “bad” is different.

He played 100 less snaps than 23 and almost 22 less 24.

Graded out around 70% and 76% vs. the run, which were both better than his 2022 season and if we want to look at it thorough your prehistoric sacks, he actually didn't have any in 2022.

CJ Clark was fine this year…Clogged up the middle vs the run for a pretty good run defense. As the #3 or #4 DT, he was fine.

Nah he was fine…Graded out well and was tough against the run, that was basically his job.

Grades are often misleading - what you see with your eyes gives you the complete picture. I watched him quite a bit being ineffective when he did play. Anyway, we’re moving on from him.

I"m having a really hard time not being excited about this team as it stands right now even if we don't add anyone else in the portal.

Sounds like things are trending well for a safety.

Mario is definitely not stepping off the gas. If CB can put it all together with his offensive weapons, look out.

High hopes for Heatherman and the defense; there's been kind of an eerie quietness to the defense even during spring practice. Hoping that means the kids have their heads down working to change the disaster that happened last year.

I watched him play the run pretty tough. Again I never expected the kid to be a star. He was adequate

Looks to be a will. He likely fights with Pruitt moving forward.

Looks alot like Wes. Hes a see an walk down guy backside.
I was hoping Heatherman wouodve brought a minny lb but i dont mind the takenwith all those years of elgibility.

Is Bobby Washington still here i know he is hurt.

I like the take because he atleast got his feet wet with acc olqy as a rs fresh and he has speed.

Heatherman has to coach up his room, old *** Cjase Smith has to give us some snaps.

Im high on Hayes and Wiley.

I think Chase Smith giving us snaps is the exact thing we should avoid. Alderman too if we can.

Unfortunately with ND game 1st and that certainly being critical to stop the run, we will likely have to go with the experience...

Bissainthe, Popo, Chase Smith, Alderman, Hayes, Bobby Washington, Wiley, Pruitt and Bonner.

Pruitt- we’ll see if he has the frame to put on more weight to hold up at LB.
Bobby Washington- expect a Chase Smith like recovery, he’ll be out for a while.

That group definitely has the physical measurables, hopefully they play as good as they look. Toure would be an insane pickup.

Based on what? Just that Hetherman coached him 2 years ago?
… yes that’s exactly why. He didn’t play last year so the last two years he’s played football, hetherman was his position coach and we’re in the market for a LB

There’s dozens of examples of us getting portal players due to this type of stuff

Does every transfer have to be an all-American? You need solid guys with legitimate experience with the additional years he can develop even more.
Exactly. Go look at UGA portal haul. It's filled with 4 star depth fillers. Guys for practice squad and special teams. There is 85 plus players on a roster and everyone plays an important role. Not just the 22 starters.

Look..I like Wes but the comparisons to him don’t make me excited because Wes came here with loads of hype out of MiaCen and hasn’t even made All Acc yet so hoping this kid is a step up.

The LB room is the oddest position group we have. We have loads of high 4* kids that were coveted by all the big dawgs (Popo, Hayes especially) we can’t have any break through. (Yet). I know it’s early but just seems like we should be able to find 2-3 guys who are ready to strap up and take it to ND.

Recruiting hasn't been really good on the defensive side.

I'm not sure we still are in the market for an LB? Besides fan talk has there been any reports of us liked with Toure

And although it may help us, I think automatically "makes us the favorite" is a stretch
