LB Kamal Bonner commits to Miami

I couldn’t help but screenshot this as it so perfectly encapsulates CiS:

Hate to be a Debbie downer here but his missed tackle rate was a whopping 25%. He was ranked in the bottom 20% of all LB’s last year.
That’s alarming, but sounds like was forced onto the field due to injuries and played better late in the season. If nothing else, depth piece while develops and plays special teams.

Amazing to me that none of BW/Alderman/C.Smith transferred out.
Honestly and I have no inside information about players or roster strategy, but this is the kind of quality depth piece that quietly makes your roster better without disturbing your current one.

We heard from D that keeping our current roster was a major concern. As it is everywhere. How do you add to your roster in this day and age without forcing discontent or transfer from a current player? Tricky situation. I have no crystal ball on this player. I'm not gonna proclaim him to do anything. The only thing that I think it does is create competition. Which is what you want with roster management. Bringing in players to force other good players out is not the goal.

This isn't Marshall or Montana St he's coming from. The DT we brought in from NC State didn't do anything. But I like the pickup from a P4 school that can potentially play a role this year but will definitely force competition

“Fans in the building” is not a complement right now. I must be cranky. This does nothing for me. The 3 years of eligibility just means another one of our young linebackers is not good enough to play here and will likely leave while we do not upgrade the position. Our roster management and portal usage is something else.
All our recruited LB must be trash for real or we cant develop..

Runssss

There’s talent in the LB room.

Popo
Pruitt
Washington
Wiley
Hayes

Adding this guy for competition and to push everyone can’t hurt things. Just need someone to step up. I didn’t include Wes or Chase. Both of them have plateaued and JAGs
We have to be the favorites to add Toure too right?

He would immediately upgrade the room and solve the LB problem assuming he’s healthy

Actually did his job, wasn't bad at all.
He literally had .5 sacks, 7 solo tackles, 2 TFL, 19 total tackles. All of which were worse than his 23’ season, at NC State. What was his job?

Maybe our definition of “bad” is different.
