Latest on QB Torrance Gibson.....

The biggest problem with Gibson at QB is that he's a slow thinker.

There are many different types of QBs that have success but they're all quick thinkers with the ball in their hands. IMO, Gibson just doesn't look instinctual at QB. He's doesn't control the game like Treon Harris and Sean White did last year.

He's still a playmaker and this team needs all the playmakers it can get regardless of what position he ends up at.

Play-maker in high school doesn't equal play-maker in college. He makes plays in high school cause he out-athletes everybody. He's a terrible passer and has no clue how to read a defense.

As a QB he'd be starting from square one if he came here. He'd have to spend at least two years learning and developing his game, meaning he'd be on the bench and wouldn't be contributing.

I doubt he's gonna want to do that.

its not like he wouldnt have time with the QBs we have on the team already.

Gibson best fit is auburn as a qb he could come in the system and play really well. Also Texas a&m would have been a good fit not sure if they offered. Both systems he doesn't have to do much but just play.

No one who struggles passing in high school could play at a high level at qb no matter what the system. Newton, Marshall can hurt you with their arm. Can Gibson?

Anquan Boldin and Peter Warrick (I think) moved out wide to take advantage of their insane skill sets
Gibson could be our version
(all I can come up with is Ethnic Sands at UM)

I think Gibson is a horrible qb but I think in that system he can excel. If you look at his highlight film you can see he can make certain throws. He's just not consistent. He can do option. He doesn't have to make line calls, he doesn't have to call plays. He just goes out and play and use it athletic ability. That is what Nick Marshall did pretty much. Marshall is a athlete playing qb. He will probably be. WR in the nfl.

Wherever Gibson winds up going whether it be Auburn, OTU, UT or here, he's going to have to be a much more accomplished passer than he is right now if he expects to play QB any time soon. He's not going to walk into any of those big-time programs and take the helm with his current skill set.

He's an incredible athlete, but big-time conferences will eat him alive unless he makes dramatic improvements in his skill set as a QB. You can't athlete your way around those inept QB'ing skills. One more thing: The areas where he's deficient can't always be taught at the college level.

Take him as a QB, let him watch one practice with Kaaya and then ask him if maybe he wants to move position. ;)

I think UT coaches telling him everything he wants to hear will ultimately end up hurting him. In D1 ball specially in the SEC you can see him scrambling for 50 yrds and throwing a pick right after.

He needs to look at not just what he will play in college, but if he wants to head to the NFL should he be wasting his time at a position that he won't get drafted in?

Coaches, Parents, Family.. all those people around him who ware benefiting from his recruiting needs to step up and lay out the facts and find him a school that will not only get him playing time but set him up so he can make some money in the NFL

not saying he can't do this exact thing at UT , AUB or wherever he goes.. heck maybe Auburn can use him with their crazy offense, but if a coach told him "you can come in and be our QB day 1" they are flat out lying to him.

I'd rather not rock the boat with any of our current QB commits (Allison and Lawson). Just keep what we have and be happy. If he wants to sign as WR - then I would consider it - but not as a QB.

If he wants a future in football, play wide receiver...

Thats whay they told Steve Mcnair, Randall CUnningham, and Thats what LSU told Teddy B. Must I go on? QB gurus can be wrong from time to time. Bring him in as a QB

Allison is going to see he's the better QB. It may hurt with Lawson, but you don't turn away an elite athlete because it may hurt someone's feelings.

He's not the passer those players were/are... That being said, I thought Treon was crazy for being so adamant but the kid can sling it... He really progressed... Hopeful TG does the same... But I'll give him a shot regardless... I don't see anything wrong with his desire to play qb... Give him a shot...
