Gibson would be the biggest potential difference maker we're targeting this cycle regardless of our coaching situation. If anything, he'd be mentioned even more if we had better coaching because it would increase the likelihood of him coming here.

An elite-level athlete in our own backyard who we've been recruiting since the eighth grade and has a chance to compete for Heisman trophies and/or national titles depending on where he ends up?

Yeah, he'd be mentioned as much as anyone regardless.

Anything to mask the fact Al Golden isn't the coach/recruiter we all thought he was/want him to be.

Anyone who thinks this isn't a big loss is nuts. Go back and watch the tape over the past three years. Losses to 2-10 Maryland, 4-8 Boston College, 4-8 Virginia, and the inability to beat any team that has a pulse.

It's a sub-par coaching staff, period. In order to win anything meaningful, landing talents like Gibson is a necessity, not a luxury.

Last year's class in soFla was loaded and while we put together a good class, there's no denying that it could have been great had we closed on more of our targets. I have a sinking feeling this class will turn out the same way.

/Still hoping that by some miracle he ends up at Miami.

What do you say to a kid who just wants out? What good are words without open ears?

I think this staff recruits nearly as well as it can given our decade stretch of mediocrity.
 
I guess it's reality time, I left South Florida because it has turned into a ****hole, now these kids want out. Doesn't matter who is coaching anymore, most of SF is a dump now. Miami could have Saban as a coach, many kids would still leave, it is what it is, I don't believe our head coach has anything to do with it. The funny thing is many of the colleges are in ****hole area's.

He has been recruiting Gibson since the 8th grade, sometimes kids just want to go to other places...

JHall is dead on. We will probably lose two kids, from the same school, that we recruited both since 8th grade.EPIC fail, blame who you want.

I've been on the Wimbush train since last year, but it doesn't look like we're getting EITHER of these guys, which is a pretty big miss.

Ive been a big wimbush fan, its not over with him, he has some genuine interest in us and so does his coaches, not saying the kid is a lock to us but i feel better with him than i do with gibson

This type of guy don't come around often, and he is sitting in your back yard. To miss on this guy, would be a tragic deal.

Seriously, does anyone think Saban would rather be going into this season. With Coker, or the guy that grew up the road 60 miles. That went to FSU, and won a title, a trophy, and made plenty of his teammates. Millions of dollars richer. Seriously, those dudes up at FSU that were catching those passes, should be truly thankful, because i don't see them having the success they did without that QB.

If Gibson plays QB, or WR at the next level. The guy is going to have a great career. He is going to win a lot of games, and make a lot of people around him richer.

Yet we got guys thinking their lucky stars for Coley, because he finds them great QB. That nobody on earth has heard of, and turns them into.......oh yeah. He hasn't turned any of them into a **** thing.
 
If he is committing today i would say tenn, but i doubt its a commitment, maybe a top 5 in order but he will say in no order
