Why would we want someone who couldnā€™t cut it in the proā€™s ? I rather have a 4 or 5 star recruit.

I get not wanting him back because he declared for draft / spent time in an nfl training camp but Wesā€™s age being a problem is nonsensical. This would be his 5th year, which every player will have access to going forward.

Unless you are referring to other older players like Toure and Smith. And in that case, Wes coming back would actually make the top of the room younger
 
Why does he even have eligibility? Didnā€™t he play all four years?

This is Miami, you either beat the man in front of you or work harder. We about winning titles and if we bring someone in tomorrow and they can put you on the bench in a couple a days, it is what it is.
 
I personally think this is needed in college football. Just like any sport, you need a pool of free agents who you can pull from for injury.

Less say a player has graduated and they are in this free agency pool. If a team has a player or players injured they should be able to pick them up.

There are full 5 yrs now. No redshirts.
The NCAA tried to specifically exclude the 2022 class. But being the morons they are they waited until both after the draft/decisions to go pro were made, yet BEFORE the CFB season began to make this rule change.

So effectively players from the 2022 class are arguing they would have never attempted to go pro and would have remained in college had the NCAA not screwed them. Which is true

That is stupid. Sure compete all spring and summer. But come here one week before the first game. Is not competition, also now risk not making the playoffs. Not worth it.

That is what your 85 scholarship player (is it even capped anymore) roster is for though.

If you are going to have FA, then you would have to cut roster sizes, and then this is the NFL. Every team carries a large number at every position, if you get injuries, that happens and it sucks but the next player is on your squad, not studying film at UNLV.

I also donā€™t get how a FA would work with students.
 
He had his time in college and sadly the 5 year rule came after he left. He wasn't good enough to play in the league and that won't change with another year. Sorry but i'm not looking forward to some Joe Yearby guy that leaves 3 years after HS and getting clowned by either not getting drafted or just not good enough to make a roster trying to creep back down into college. You left you signed with a Pro team you lost your chance. Were a week away from the season starting and these guys think they can just come back and take someone's job that earned it.
 
For all that is holy, just have collective bargaining. With that, all this nonsense stops.

Otherwise, **** like this is going to keep happening.

Teams are 120 players not 60 like in the NFL and the season is longer in the NFL.

And if they aren't enrolled in the school, how do you pull that off.

If this was a legit semi pro League, would make this a lot easier, but they've decided it's gonna be with colleges.
