#1 in scoring offense, #1 in scoring defense, #1 in total offense, #1 in total defense.

And they went undefeated with their backup QB. Best team ever and nobody is even close.

You think they could beat the 2019 Ravens or Patriots?

The so called "greatest" team then magically and immediately fell off the face of the Earth as the Steel Curtain arrived and they didn't even win another playoff game until the 1980's.

I've shown my bias here as a Steelers fan but I just have trouble naming one-hit wonder teams like the '72 Fins or even the '85 Bears as the "greatest". I'm much more comfortable picking the best team of a dynasty as that.

Don't forget the Fins went to the Super Bowl in '71, '72 & '73 and won 2.

The criteria I'm espousing actually doesn't fit the category of greatest "single season" team which is a fair critique of my opinion here but I just have a tough time taking such a narrow view when using words like "of all time", etc.

They won the title the next year.

Csonka, Kiick and Warfield went to the WFL in 1975. That’s why it ended.

They would get destroyed by any modern team and that’s a fact.
There is literally not a single team in the current era whose players could have played against Miami in ‘72. No current players were even alive back then. So I don’t understand why people try to expect Miami players from ‘72 to play today. They’re all 70 years old.

Time machine comparisons are stupid, because everything changes. Judge teams against their era.

True. Good point. I guess one would look at the 72 team as the absolute culmination of that little run.

I still personally dont think they're in the league of the 70's Steelers or 80's Niners or even the 90's Cowboys. I always have trouble thinking how Belichick's Pats are going to compare to all of those that I mentioned because I don't think a similar plethora of Hall of Famers will emerge from New England and those are always the names you think of in making hypothetical position by position match-ups.
