Lane Kiffin is realistic (info).

I just wanted to add something. Everybody says Mario has South Florida recruiting relationships yet his class has not 1 signee from Florida at all. Meanwhile Kiffin has atleast 3. 1 from STA, And 1 from IMG
This is why no top coach has gone there and every **** duck fan acts like they can pull anyone up there.
They have a **** 5 star resort up and all the Nike swag before the sht even comes out. Top level Nike performance staff and they still want to spend more money and they have Mario there.
It’s a tough fckng sell. You also still have to overcome the ESPN and media nut hugging and seed gargling for anything sec sec.
They couldn’t even land Tae and we did.

I found a picture of Lame’s coaching staff, believe it or not he’s already put it together. These are the guys that are coming to Miami.

Get your pink Izods before they sell out fellas, Miami is back, bro

Why do people believe Kiffin will leave Miami quickly? He loves South Florida. If he can get this rolling into a powerhouse competing for titles, why would he leave?

The same reason most successful coaches leave. More money on the table somewhere else.

The way college coaching salaries are going though, that NFL gap is smaller than it has ever been. So that might shoot down some of his desire to head up to the NFL.

He did mention that when someone brought it up

Some similarity going from Tennessee to USC and going from Ole Miss to UM.

After his rehab at Bama, Kiffin went to FAU and stayed there til he got a P5 HC job in the SEC. Seems to me he just wants to be a P5 HC somewhere warm and in a recruiting hotbed. As I mentioned in another thread, I think the "he will leave for the first NFL HC job" is vastly overstated, but even there is an inkling of truth in that, it's a problem that is easily addressed by a simple contract clause that puts his buyout at 45 million plus if he leaves for another job, and the contract could also include a clause for a very reasonable fixed amount if he is fired for cause.

Is there enough smoke around his name? I mean, could it be for a reason we don't know about? If you were a college kid who would you rather play for? Who is the more exciting candidate out of the 2?

Anyone that knows him would tell you he’d be out of that **** hole before the sun set to come here. That’s why I posted with confidence other day “ he’d come if we wanted him”.
Let’s say Mario makes the playoff, stays at oregon, and uf opens up. You still confident we could get lane over uf? Also doesn’t lsu have interest in lane?

Gainesville really all that different a place than Oxford?

My two cents- not a huge advantage going from one SEC team to another unless it's Bama or UGA. If he goes to UF, he still has to contend with all the SEC schools plus Texas and Oklahoma in a few years. Plus Gainesville still sucks and he wants to be in a real city. Oh and his ex-wife is a Gator. As for LSU, he's boys with Ed O. LSU threw his good friend under the bus. Money talks but I think he's have a bias against LSU.

Lane is young enough to put in a few seasons at Miami and then take another shot at the NFL.

Don’t forget, he was at Oakland for a season and a half or so, and he may want another chance. I’ve always believed once a coach is in an NFL environment they want to return. Especially if they enjoy success in CFB and want a new challenge. Carroll did, Butch did, Saban did.

The NFL usually means ‘Not For Long’ but it’s 99% football. No recruiting spoiled high schoolers. No boosters. No NCAA.

Mario is 1A and Lane is 1B, would not be mad at all if Lane Kiffen were to become our next HC. Especially if Mario turns down the job.
What if both are offered at same time but Lane accepts first....basically not giving Mario enough "time" to decide....would that be a mistake by the administration? IMO you think long, you think wrong. If Lane says he's signing then we take him and ride out. Because if we wait on Mario, it just might be that he stays in Oregon and Lane signs elsewhere, such as a place like...Oklahoma, if Riley were to leave for LSU. Heck I'd be shocked if we could keep Lane if the OU job opened up....it'd be like Manny to Temple and then back to Miami before officially starting the Temple job.....

Gosh I hope that's not our luck

If there's at least 1 AD Candidate (Brian White) that would hire Lane, I just don't understand how it's officially Mario's job to turn down. Aren't there insiders who until recently said we'd never consider hiring Lane.

Perhaps. Doesn't mean I'm inaccurate.

I'm not anti-Lane. But there are plenty of SoFla stories from just a few years ago. Maybe the Lane Train Passengers want to gloss over those, but they also aren't on the Board that has to decide whether to give Lane a multi-year multi-million dollar contract. I'll let the multi-millionaires vet him.

The myth about Lane growing up while he was at Alabama is cute, but not as accurate as some would have us believe.
Wasn’t he banging Saban’s daughter?
