Lane Kiffin is realistic (info).

What's up with this?

Manny and al Golden were able to reel in top 15 classes here. You really think Kiffin won’t be able to match that or do better? Especially if we’re able to keep a guy like TRob on staff?

I don't know why people keep saying Kiffin is gonna leave in 3 years. He got fired from USC and the Raiders. The only job he left was Tennessee for USC and anyone would. And getting a HC job from Bama OC to FAU is logical as well as from FAU to Ole Miss. He has lived in South Florida so i would trust he sees it as his last stop if he is indeed interested. He is never gonna overcome Bama and LSU in that west division. Just aint happening consistently.
If Lane of anyone else were to take the job and start winning, they would have to really weigh their options when it comes to leaving.

There isn't a huge list, IMO, of college coaches who are winning but decide to make a lateral/upward move (I guess depending on who views the move). Most CFB coaches with success move on to the NFL.

Jimmy did well moving to the NFL, but Butch? Dennis? How about the other guys that tried to go pro like Urban, Spurrier, even Saban?

If we get a college guy that wants to stay in college, there isn't really much reason to leave, aside from a huge salary. Salary is offset quite a bit by florida state income taxes.

All I am saying is it could be a destination job for the right person. That person is Mario, IMO, because of the family ties. But guys like Lane might get counsel from guys like Jimmy Johnson, and maybe they might stay.

I like Kiffin, but he's not what we need. We need some stability. Lane is a mercenary. He'll move in a minute's notice if there is something better for Lane. If the U is really interested in upping its budget, I presume they desire someone who will bring long term stability. That's not Lane. I mean, are you not moved by the fact that the man is currently employed and supposedly lusting about this job?

Lane is a hot girlfriend. Mario is a wife.
You are right.. Marriage has 50/50 divorce rate nowadays.. Rent dont buy.. Lane is the choice..

The big question with Kiffin is... If he has success here and we pay him big $$, does he like SoFla and the situation enough to at least stick for 5years or beyond.... think everyone on this board is scared of a 3year or less type of situation with him....

EVERYONE STOP.

If he leaves for a better job its GOOD... it guarantees that he was a good hire, crushed it here, and now we are going to have 10x the leverage in our next hire. It could be to go after a Lincoln Riley type at that point. It would be a GREAT THING. It would mean the hire WORKED OUT and SAVED UM FOOTBALL. That's how it works, and that's how it went with EVERY GOOD UM COACH WE'VE HAD since and including SCHNELLENBERGER.

Jesus we don't even know if we are getting a coach ANYWHERE near the Mario and Kiffin level and you triggered mofos are already sitting in the corner worrying about when they are going to leave us.

If Mario says no, Lane should get a call. To me Mario is the long term solution to this program’s problems. He’s a lifer. The second Lane wins the ACC he’ll be off to the NFL.
Honestly I'd be fine with that as it would make him the best coach here in 2 decades. The job opens up at that point and the top candidates will be beating down the door for it.

Looking vs. SEC isn't a fair comparison. He's 38th in the country, which isn't bad.
That's not great either, considering that ole miss is currently in top 12 while playing in SEC. Being 38th in the country screams average to me.
