lance not high on wilson's perfomance

lol he had zero tackles and zero qb pressures and a 15 yd penalty with them backed up inside the 10. You don’t need to care what pff says. That’s the lowest impact he has ever had on any game he has played significant snaps in his career and it was against one of the worst OLs we will see this year. The good thing is it can’t get any worse. The bad thing is this guy was supposed to be an impact player to help with the loss of our DEs. If you’re not feasting on scrubs then wtf are you doing?

I think hes just learning how to play in this defense. We're asking him to play the run alot more then mizzou did, where he just rushed the QB every play.

Someone else said this and it's true, hes not Mesidor or Bain and we shouldn't expect him to be. Personally, I was impressed with Lightfoot and expect him to push Wilson, if he hasnt already.
Lightfoot is our best defensive end, followed closely by Blount. Wilson should be the third end.

Lightfoot started over Wilson.
This.

Which should either heighten your concerns, or alleviate them.

I have not rewatched enough of the game to verify this, but he became more effective as the game wore on.

I am presently not concerned.

I remember being thinking ‘we need something from Wilson here’ and then he walks the tackle back and has the strength to bat down the pass as well.

I have to admit i said the same thing on that play. His only real impact on the game.

My morning stool is superior to the 2024 defense. I expect a top 20-30 defense this year.

With our schedule, I’d be very disappointed with 30. 20 needs to be the floor and with the talent and coaching we have on that side in addition to schedule, it should be closer to 10-12 IMO. I’m talking scoring defense, regular season. I’ll even take top 15 because this scoring O will be top 5.

We watched Bain for the last few years. That’s a college football HOF level of dominance.

I’m a Mizzou alum, so I watch a decent amount of their football games. Wilson is just really solid. I do think he’ll improve as the season goes on. If he doesn’t. He’ll get less snaps.

If Ruben Bain never existed this wouldn’t even be a topic. The bar has been set as far as it can be with Bain. We aren’t gonna be impressed at that position for a long time.
To top it off, he ain’t better than Rousseau or Phillips. There’s a reason he isn’t a 3 and out player. More hype than substance.
Thinking our dline would be just as good or even better just because the room is deep is a shortsighted response to losing a dude that can literally change how an offense is run.

But we are here just shooting the **** and making observations

I think that when we play against teams with quarterbacks who get flustered under pressure, Heatherman will send the dogs in ways he didn't against stanford. For example: Clemson.

Bain also had a lost year - it happens.
