Kellen Wiley Jr, LB Progress

Blocked punt vs Indy was catastrophic & probably cost us the game. Kid had a brain fart. Otherwise could argue special teams play has been decent. Don’t recall many other blocked punts or FG attempts against us. Our punters & kickers last 5 years or so have been above average. Kicks are mostly going into end zone so we’re not returning & few others are, either. We’ve got threats as punt returners. Our coverage teams have been ok. Not blocking any punts, but could also be more focused on returners breaking one. Roster is to a point where we’re loaded with young DBs & LBs, so trust in Mario have special teams at a high level.
Special teams is far more then kicking off, punting & field goals. Our special teams SHOULD ALWAYS be polarizing game changers. The facts we haven't even attempted to apply pressure up till this point with the level of players we have had is inexcusable but it also shows up until this point Mario felt we were too undisciplined and the units couldn't be trusted not to put us in a bad spot.

I get Mario likes the experience and that Toure is basically the QB of the defense. But Kellen got a clear nose for the ball and always seemed around the play on those runs. Think it’s going to be hard to keep his off the field as the season goes on
