Kellen Wiley Jr, LB Progress

All the throws atleast

Thank you. Using this to watch the OL. Half way through and it seems we can have 8 yards whenever we so choose. Like the Lofton in the backfield (with Fletcher or a RB) formation for certain down and distances.

I can bet as the season progress yall gonna see the guys making plays snap counts increase and the liabilities decrease. I was worried he was a fast guy who was having trouble diagnosing plays but i see that's not the case. Taking good angles too.

From what I saw from our game the other day, you can’t argue this. I’m a little disappointed that @DMoney never talked about how he was progressing as a linebacker in the Podcasts. Because what I saw out there last night was linebacker play. All you ever heard in the podcast was well he’s rushing the passer really good.. that’s great all but that’s not linebacker play and he was playing linebacker out there The other night looked good.
trying to protect toure and smith

As a former LB player and coach - I can see his development from last year. His precessing last year was a bit slow and you could tell he was thinking too much causing him to be a step slow. He is really doing a good job of reading keys and making himself hard to block between the tackles. Didn't get too see him on as many zone drops, but I like what I see.

Some good run play reps in there. Would love to see him more against the pass, as like I've repeated 10x in this thread alone, *we neeeeed that ****.*
I was happy as **** when I heard camp reports of tighter coverage but watching the pass plays all 22 I was disappointed to see guys playing bail cover 3 like we scared to get beat deep and have no athletes.. Idk if the dline will cover enough for them like last year.. I watched the all 22 of Western Michigan and they have the Macdonald/Minter Scheme still there and its crazy to see them against more talented team squating on same throws and the kid picking the same out routes we give up soo easily. I get it, but I dont like it lol..

Thought another year in scheme would have confidence but thats just how we are taught,..

IIRC, we were over 40% on Cover 3 and minimal quarters. Separately, we blitzed the **** out of our Nickel position and used it to control run fits on early downs. I think we'll need to adjust this season. We'll see.

Yea I dont mind the cover 3 but the hard bail like we are famu playing NFL talent.. and then middle of field wide open all day for lost LBs, (now I know why Lofton is all american in practice and best player but everyone shocked he cant do it in games, it makes sense)..

I get the strategy, most cfb teams wont work down field before stubbing their toe and dont have nfl level QB to make the throws needed, but Bain-Mesi covered alot of that up to and sped up clocks.. If that is gone those sideline throws will be there, I want tighter coverage.. But lets see how it plays out..
