2026 Karsten Busch - unreal leg power for a lean 223 pounder --going deep on the Squat also.

We had a lot of talented LBs throughout the 10s who we couldn’t keep on campus, many of them were hidden gem types too. Of course, they were hidden because of grades/character/injuries/attitude/compensation/playing time/etc.

Besides the obvious mainstays like Denzel, Spence, and Shaq; we lost out on year(s) of Eddie Johnson, Alex Figueroa, Arthur Brown, Gabe Terry, Gionni Paul, Jermaine Grace, Juwon Young, AQM (3-4 lol), and Devante Bond.

That’s before getting into the layups we passed on like Skai Moore and so forth or guys who never got started like Josh Witt.

Thankfully we’re at a point where if we miss a layup or just str8 up get beat, it’s easier for them to circle back (Jarquez carter & Xavier Lucas) and we have enough meaningful depth where we aren’t relying on Devante Bond’s transcript to be good enough to save us or an ncaa investigation to go along smoothly (Grace/Young/AQM) etc. . . . That way we aren’t living and dying by how good Raphael Kirby turns out to be.

I still remember seeing Juwon Young pull-up in his foreign at the handicap parking spot when Going to the dining hall….lol

Once Manny Diaz gets on campus, he inherited the 3 LBs who were already committed in the ‘16 class and he proves to everyone that—oh wait, oh no—it actually can get worse than Al Golden and Dorito when it comes to defensive recruiting.

Not completely surprised SMU under Rhett doesn’t have a ton of HS recruits because Manny’s staffers had to have some level of acceptance of what was going on with his lazy steering of the ship.
Eddie Johnson shoulda been in the Ring of Fame

Stick that beast in Heathermans defense, give him a mentor, and let it rip

The fan club that Flagg has on here needs to be studied. To me he is the epitome of reasons why we would go 7-5 yearly and fans root for HIM but wonder why the team sucks.. Dude was in middle of the middle tenn. game defense that got blown off the floor and archetype of small and slow but because he set up the cones for corches, so he got larry coker fist pumps from the fans..

Cant have it both ways, sorry, actually not sorry.

Well I think you are splitting two different arguments. I was a fan of Flagg because by all accounts he was a hard worker, good cane and worked his *** off.

I agree as a player, he should not have been relied on for starter minutes for a NC contender but hard not to be a "fan" of his, what do you want him to do when the coaches tell him he is starting? Saying no put me on the bench? I am more ****ed at the Bobby Washington, Sam Bruce types, the ones that have all the talent seemingly but just cannot put it together. Or I divert that anger to the coaches for not developing anyone behind him or recruiting anyone better. I severely doubt we would have liked what we saw off the bench better.

And the fact that flagg started here says all you need to know about the previous staff. I’ll never forget the play he made against Clemson for us, but that individual should’ve never have been the starting linebacker at the University of Miami and I think we can both agree on that.
Size wise..yes. He was 5'10 230+ not exactly what you look for.

He also transferred to Mizzou led them in tackles and they had a top 20 defense.

He had a solid college career looking back at it.

Actually I think it’s a lot weirder that you’re unable to keep two thoughts in your head at the same time.

Is it his fault or is it Manny Diaz fault? As a player its your job to compete and get a starting spot. As the coach you should be recruiting someone to compete and take his spot.

Lol calling him the epitome for 7-5 is crazy like hes the one calling plays and listening himself as a starter.

Honing in on systemic issues and the big picture is hard so porsters focus on one guy and label him "the problem," which is obviously silly. Sometimes they're not even bad players. This board despised Mike Harley even though he was our best player on offense a lot of games and ranked among our all time WRs.

I always thought CF would be a good recruiter and work his way into coaching.

dont know if yall know this...but Flagg started here ...then transferred way and started at Missouri an put up good numbers..
think a lot of Canes “fans” would rather an adonis who runs the the wrong way fast lol
