Kaaya is unspectacular and looking more like Steve Walsh

I was thinking dorsey. Manage your playmakers keep us in the game and don't make mistakes. .

No. Dorsey did more than that. His pre snap reads and time through his progressions after the snap is what made Dorsey. Kaaya isn't close to that yet.

Dorsey could also be INCREDIBLY inaccurate.

LOL, what's your point? ALL QB's have an off game. I haven't seen a QB have a 100% completion year yet. Dorsey wasn't two time Heisman finalist because he sucked.

I guess I just mean that they're different players.

Kaaya has more arm talent and in the coming years I think you're going to see his pre-snap game rival Dorsey's.

That very well could be true down the line. Right now the pre-snap changes are coming from the sideline. There have been quite a few times where the D loaded the box and he didn't adjust. With Dorsey, he did it every time. Even his RS frosh year. I like Kaaya, but he isn't even close to attempting to wear Dorsey's jock.

Dorsey was as flustered as you can get in his first real test at Washington in his true sophomore season.

You serious right now? 58% 9565 yds 86 td and 28 int with a career rating of 147.4. Hovering around 60% is average but Incredibly inaccurate? That's got to be a joke. Dorsey wasn't a "game manager" or a "product of the system". He was our college Tom Brady. Dude was a gamer, a true cane, and a football genius. Some of you kill me.

I agree, incredibly inaccurate is a an overreaction. However, 58% is not very good.

Didn't say that he WAS incredibly inaccurate.

Said that he COULD BE incredibly inaccurate.

As a Senior:

16 for 32 with 3 picks against Florida
20 for 45 with 2 picks against Florida State
16 for 31 and a pick against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights
18 for 35 against Tennessee

As I said, Dorsey had times where he was really inaccurate.

Calling him our college Tom Brady is disrespectful to Tom. He was more of our College Eli Manning, with other worldly talent surrounding him.

But I'm not here to turn this into a bashing of one of the greatest QB's in school history. I'm bowing out of this discussion fellas.

The adjective unspectacular is a tad misleading. In many ways, Kaaya has enjoyed a spectacular season to date - freshman or not. Take a second and name another true frosh QB at Miami who has ever played better?

I'd say he's been spectacularly competent with an even more spectacular potential ceiling. Two things we haven't been able to say together since Dorsey.

Only our fan base would try and discredit one of our best to build up the present QB.

Dorsey also effectively rewrote the school record book, setting career records for total offense (9,486 yards), passing yards (9,565), passing touchdowns (86), pass completions (668), pass attempts (1,153), victories as a starting quarterback (38), winning percentage by a starting quarterback (.974), 200-yard passing performances (31), consecutive passes without an interception (193), consecutive games with a touchdown pass (31), and touchdown passes in a game (5).

He also went 38-2 as the QB for the U.

Are we comparing career Walsh/Dorsey to true freshman Kaaya? If so, that speaks even more to how impressive BK is.

This is the sure fire way to tell what Miami fans are trogs. Gotta love the people who bash Ken Dorsey to this day.

38-2 is all that needs to be said.

Kaaya is definitely the best QB we have had since Ken.

I was at the game. Flustered is a bit much. That is the game where Portis was going off and for some god forsaken reason they stopped giving him the rock.

Brad Kaaya is the most impressive True Freshman quarterback I have ever seen.

Being at the game might have robbed you of the chance to see closeups of his face and his mannerisms. He was rattled and flustered.

He regrouped and went on to greatness, but guys who make it seem like he walked on water from day 1 are being disingenuous. There were plenty of bumps in the road for him just like anyone else who has been great.

I think the best parts are two fold:

1. That an injury created Brad Kaaya. All indication was Ryan Williams would be the starter.

2. People still use William's injury and that we have a freshman at QB to explain the performance on the year (i.e. 3 losses). Kaaya is performing pretty darn good for a true freshman who didn't enroll early.

Kaaya has a higher ceiling. And this is a not a slam at Walsh or Dorsey. Both were absolutely terrific.

Walsh was good. Kaaya can make some redic throws. That last one to Walford was amazing.

I'd call a better than 2:1 TD/INT ratio, 20 TD's, 62% comp% and 9 YPA pretty spectacular for a guy who is a true freshman who didn't have spring practice. Coley is starting to show some signs of life as well. Let him hit the weight room and get B/S/F and get a full of season in and then let's see if he's "unspectacular".

Did you see what the #1 QB ('14) did yesterday in a QB friendly system against ULM? ****. That's what unspectacular looks like.

Pretty accurate statement right here. I think Kenny has admitted as much. God, I still have nightmares about Larry Tripplett and that game. That's why beating them by about 125 pts at the OB and their AD having a mental breakdown after was extra sweet.

Dorsey's reputation is sacred but he didn't just show up here as a polished superstar- which is an even bigger credit to him. Like we're hopefully seeing with Kaaya, there was always obvious growth and inprovement and legitimate reason to get more and more excited.

Kaaya at the moment seems like a game manager in the mold of dorsey, Leinhart, McCarron. A guy that will do the things that allows you to win a title. He's not gonna go out there and break records like Manziel or Manning. or sling the rock like Rodgers or Marino.

Due to how well were running the ball. I don't mind him just managing. Make no mistake though. He's gonna have some BIG Games in the future. He has that ability.
You've got to figure that foosu will stack the box against us. We'll see a lot more passing on our part in 2weeks. And a lot of blitzing. Could be a big Dorset and Berrios day.

That game in Seattle in 2000, IMO, all UM had to do was feed Clinton Portis a bit more and they win that game. I thought Cokers handling of Dorsey that afternoon was very suspect...
