Josh Pate On Miami

Him and Mario must be close personal friends.

There’s no way that an objective person calls 8-4 massive progress with this schedule and these results at the end of the year.
If someone would've told you in August that we would go 7-5 or 8-4 with wins over TAMU and Clemson, had a top ranked Defense, and a top ranked OL you wouldn't have called that progress?

I get we can be better and our record could be better but it is progress.

For me where we at it is. It wouldn’t be under previous coaches cause the bs players they brought in. I said bring me someone that brings monsters and I’ll be patient. But that’s not everyone some fan want 10 wins quick and set themselves up. I wasn’t expecting greatness quickly. We were down bad worse than the giants.
I agree with you D, but my worry is that he's not having enough success in the necessary areas to win over the monster recruits he needs to bring in. I think he may have underestimated the mindset of the SoFla recruit playing "what have you done for me lately" with Miami. No way he didn't feel the buzz that the TAMU game created with recruiting and has now seen that dwindle away. WR commits, Chance, looking real flippy right about now.

Mario is actually pretty closely tracking Sark at Texas

5-7 year 1
8-5 year two

Hopefully we can pop like they did this year in 24 with a new QB. But outside of a win on Saturday the lasting memory of this season is unfortunately the debacle against GT

If we go 1-2 to finish the season but one of those wins is over FSU, then I will call it progress. That means we are good enough to beat good teams (TAMU, Clemson, FSU), but that Cristobal needs to pull his head out of his a$$ and learn how to beat bad teams (which he had a problem with at Oregon, as well).

I said 8-4 before the season so if we finished like that, then okay….

But we are about to lose out, book it.
Yeah even at my most koolaid drunk levels (that I can get to at this point), I can’t see another win on this schedule. Not the way this **** is lookin.

In my problem with analysis like his and what you’re saying is that most of the people here are not freaking out that we’re going to meet expectations. It’s the way that we’re meeting expectations. It’s not calling a time out to win a game which is bad coaching, and something that he should have learned after 40 years in the game. It’s telling everyone that they have to compete on the practice field for their job every week and apparently seeing that is true for every position, except for a quarterback when everyone sees what’s going on. It’s a pretty educated guess that Mario is interfering in an office that was looking pretty good initially, and now has gotten beyond lame potentially Even if it is compensating for Tyler.

On the surface level, he is right. But the path that we got there he is completely wrong.
I feel you on the timeouts and all that other stupid sh. But a good qb will solve a lot of issues. And elite qbs rarely go to schools building. It’s like Kirby year one (not saying it’s the same) he wasn’t getting Trevor Lawrence from Georgia. Those elite kids look at the OL and that RB room to ease them in and they feel like the missing piece or the piece that takes them to the next level. If Kirby was in year 3 at UGA Clemson wouldn’t have a chance IMO and Lawrence would be a dog.

It’s a from scratch build from within as well. Money being poured in and resources everywhere. This is different imo from other builds with Randy, Al, Mark, Manny, Coker……imo those guys could never recruit well regardless of what the rankings say. But that’s for me and how I see it and I understand people see it differently. Imma hold to it and either look like a genius here or a dumb ***. I still feel super confident we trending no matter the fans screaming like New York fans. I understood how bad it was here and everything I asked for happened and I know it takes time everywhere you go. This wasn’t that old Miami where you insert someone and you win. To me any coach was going to struggle. I’m cool with looking like a dumb *** but I was right about all those previous coaches. And I just read over the negatives and some of them funny asf and I laugh I don’t take it to heart. I’m not defending a grown man it’s just how I see it as of right now. JMO he will get the job done here. I just want a consistent power not a flash in the pan like 2017 or what fsu doing.

I want to be the old U I want to be what bama is and UGa. That’s what I want and I’ll wait for it.

It’s not the 8-4 or 7-5, it’s how you get there.

Predictions aren’t fixed points in time. You have to allow for nuance.

This offense now is worse than it was to start the season and worse than it was last year.

Better OL, DE, LB, RB play - yes, absolutely. I won’t even argue DB play.

WR play has also improved, but is on a milk carton right now.

Major regression at QB, situational corching, and the punting game.

Not all 8-4’s look alike.

You guys keep pound the table about the record predictions prior to season.

Are you not watching the games? Do you see how we are losing? It’s not cuz Mario doesn’t have talent, it’s cuz Mario and the same issues that have plagued him at every single coaching stop.

You guys continue with this, give it time mess. It’s so weird how you all ignore everything you see and know about Mario. I guess it’s to make yourselves feel better or something, idk.

Someone I repeat someone at qb is going to look very good in a few years with what he’s putting in front of them. Kids will start going in the first that will create hype and coaches can’t say you won’t develop. Cause all they see is first round, Miami puts another in the first. Then we start rolling and be known once again as a football factory and hs coaches (who trust the staff already) will trust the staff. We haven’t had a HC that HS coaches were coo with sending kids here. All that bs is gone now, it was toxic asf real toxic.

I live in Austin and my wife is a Longhorn, so Texas has been my 'second' team, if you will for the past 10+ years. Sark might have been on Saban's staff, but he's nothing like Mario when it comes to offensive philosophies.

I said 8-4 before the season started, with a realistic shot at 9-3.

The issue is, we know all too well how this ends.

Blasted by FSU, quit on the season, Louisville romps us in front of a 30k crowd (at best), limp into BC in the freezing cold just wanting the season to end.

Go ahead and prove us wrong Mario. I’d love to finish 8-4 at this point. I watched BC in person twice, they’re absolutely nothing special and very vanilla on offense. But this has the makings of 37-13 FSU, 34-17 Louisville, 24-10 BC.

There’s something underlying we’re not seeing that has caused the season to just go straight into the tank offensively.

You don’t go from 38ppg to 6 over the course of a 4-week period.

Miami will more than likely go 0-4 over to end the season on yet another losing streak.

You have to score to win games. They can’t do that.

Season is over.

OK but what you're saying here is not what you said in the post I responded to. This is just doom and gloom, which might be correct. But you don't know how the next 3 games are going to go.

If they go the way you're saying they're going to go, then I don't think we'll be posting Josh Pate videos telling people how wonderful Mario and the team are this year. But we have 3 games to play and he says if we go 8-4...aka we win 2 of the next 3...it's not the Titanic hitting the iceberg. And I tend to agree. But if you've thrown in the towel and in your mind we already went 6-6, then yeah, it's ****** in every capacity and the season is a total failure. I'll let the kids play the games first though, maybe I'm weird.

This is my problem with the fan base right now

Fan of JP, this was a weak take. I know JP met up with TVD and threw the ball around and interviewed him and all preseason. Say what ails this team. Why beat around the bush and talking about "execution" and other verbal diarrhea. We got a joke behind center. Just say that.

With a one win improvement year over year by Mario’s final year we might be in playoff talks! #progress

I’m sick of the improvement argument. Teams are completely turning around results immediately now with transfers and quality coaching. A quality coach doesn’t need a five year rebuild nowadays.

TVD is already there (waiting for the season to end).

From 1st rounder to a golf caddy in 1.5yrs.

Astonishing.

But that’s what happens when you don’t put the work in to improve. If you’re still making the same mistakes you where making as a RFr, you’ve missed out on quite a bit of development; friend.

Some people won’t even give the man 3 seasons minimum before they sabotage the process.

IMO, coaching and playing at Miami is completely different than Louisville, Duke, etc. It takes a special coach and special kids. I also think, it’s more kids that need to be weeded out the program. Kids in USC (LA) and Miami have a lot more bs to navigate to focus on football.

It’s the same reason why Lincoln Riley will struggle to get USC to where their fans “expect them to be” quickly and that’s with a Heisman QB.

Everybody got a right to be upset at decisions that’s been made, I just don’t think 1.5 years through the process it’s time to hit the reset button.

Keep tweaking… lol

There is no secret recipe at Miami. It’s the same as every other program. Hire innovative coaches, recruit good players = results.

I know exactly how it’ll go. It’s been the same story here for 20yrs.

FSU beats Miami handedly.

A physically beat up team limps into a UL game that will have a borderline Top 10 team want to make a statement against Miami. Another loss.

Kids pack it up, and start making business decisions. Game against BC is lost.

I was waiting for him to say we have a qb problem but he didn’t. He knows we do he just ain’t going to say it lol. Who really has to say it? 😂
