Josh pate miami season prediction

A 7 and 8 win season difference is the NC State game essentially.
Everyone concedes we lose to TAMU UNC Clemson and FSU. To make it to 10 wins, we'd have to beat a combination of UNC, TAMU or FSU.
What's interesting to me is, since we play FSU late on the season, they might not be motivated at all since that team is doing the "Natty or Bust" route. So if they lose to LSU and one more game before us, we certainly have a great chance, especially since I still don't believe in that OL that much.
Not sure who the everyone is that is conceding that we lost to all 4 of those teams.

Two of them based on last season alone should be a toss up. (UNC and TAMu)

And I’m still not sold on FSU being this dominant all world team. They beat us pretty bad last year but the 2 prior years they got dog walked by Manny Diaz. That game will be closer than the experts think.

Clemson unfortunately is another story. I actually think at this stage it’s psychological. Cuz this is as good a year to catch them slipping as any.

Who's conceding to TAMU. We almost beat them last yet on the road, and we don't have Gattis going fetal down the stretch not trying to win. As far as FSU, I look at last year similar as I look at our 2017 season. They have a favorable run with injuries and everything going right for them. I'm not buying the hype at all; I expect a regression to the mean with them being an 8-4 team with one of the loses being us. Home field means nothing in this series.

It's the way he made the D work because at Marshall, he couldn't get a space-eating, run-stopping DT. It called making adjustments based on the talent available. That's why I'm somewhat optimistic because he's the type of coach you need when you have a roster with talent gaps.

But make no mistake. You can always win a one off (e.g., Notre Dame), but when you step up in competition and play a string of teams with dominant lines (as in the bowls or playoffs), it will come back to bite you.
I guess we will have to wait and see. If you ever listen to a Guirdry interview he talks about this exact thing.

Very much so. Some key considerations in the 8 to 10 win scenario:

  • Ignore last year. TVD is playing like he did with Lashlee, but with two more years of experience under his belt
  • Far deeper running back room that is more talented than in 2021 or 2022
  • Deeper tight end room that is more talented than in 2021 or 2022
  • Far better offensive line than in 2021 or 2022
  • New DC's scheme proves better than Manny's in 2021 or Steele's in 2022
  • More experienced, deeper defensive line
  • Insanely more talented defensive ends than in 2021 or 2022
  • More talented linebacker corp than in 2021 or 2022
Those are your drivers. TVD is the most important. Wide receiver will be better (and deeper) than last year, and better for depth reasons and overall ball distribution than in 2021.

Agree with everything you wrote above except the TEs. Jury still out there. Could be good. But Arroyo and R Williams need to be healthy, and Skinner needs to stop dropping balls.

I agree with this. No one should be conceding those games. But I think the vast majority of fans (including myself) are taking a "show me" perspective.

Clemson is more talented so consider that a loss (though any given Saturday...). After that, A&M is more talented but it's lumpy and the QB and secondary can be exposed, FSU is talented but overrated, UNC has a good QB and defense but underwhelming across most of the rest of its offense. I strongly believe we're the better team vs. UNC. Getting boat raced by all 4 of them would be a failure IMO.

However, NC State and Louisville, while less talented than us, are dangerous. We could easily lose to one or both of them.

So if we go 1-3 vs the top teams and 1-1 vs the mid-team, that 8-4. If we win the games we're supposed to win, that's at least 9-3. But last time we did that was Richt 2017.

As much as I want to agree with all of this...the tight ends are questionable...more talented? The last guy is in the NFL...and who knows what we have with the rest of the guys.
Skinner (Yr2), a healthy Elijah Arroyo, and true freshman Riley Williams are probably going to be better (and more explosive) as a group than Mallory, true freshman Skinner, and an Arroyo out for the year with injury.

Then I hope I’m dead wrong. I think Taylor and Deen if we can get to third and long can be menaces but I am genuinely worried about the run defense. Francisco may end up an All ACC LB because I think he’s going to have a high volume of tackles because of this. And the homework is the same DT unit is still here and I still think Jackson was a major loss at DT.
Yall kill me with this. I get worrying when you've done proper assessment of a situation and can give a reason WHY you feel a certain way.

Emotional sht with no substance or real reasoning behind your opinion is just dumb.

You do not need space eating Dtackles in today's game. Most all of them in CFB have low snap count because not many teams try to run down your throat anymore. Everytime you watch any team and the announcers highlight a space eater his *** is coming OFF THE FIELD because he's a liability.

Our DBs ability or lack thereof is truly the make or break in this defense. Guidry will have more guys around the LOS than an Oline can block so our DBs will be on an island a lot.

You're not just gonna line up and lean on us. Yall are insane for even thinking that. Like what team do we play outside of FSU and maybe NcSt, even has that in their game?

Help me understand

I think that’s a fair prediction

Even the most informed are inaccurate

I mean look at the preseason Top25 poll every. There’s always 10-15 teams that don’t end up on the Top 25 that started there

My gut tells me 8-4 but I if we stay healthy at key positions (OL, QB, Safety, DL) I think we land at 9-3

We lose 3 out of these 4 games (Texas A&M, Clemson, FSU, UNC). Hopefully with the A&M and Clemson game at home we can Win one if not both, and you never know what can happen in the Miami/FSU game

Should be a fun season

Maybe you haven’t watched UM the last 15 years. We got leaned on by Mid Tenn State and nearly everyone forget FSU lol

The mental gymnastics to have convinced ourselves that 8-4 in year 2 is acceptable after 7-5 got Manny fired is something.
More of this nonsense

No one is saying it’s acceptable dude

But going from 5-7 (when it could have easily been 3-9) to 8 wins is what it is

There’s nothing acceptable about 8 wins in year two but maybe we should just stick to 15-0 posts because ya know that’s the Miami standard right? (Again based on absolutely nothing)

Makes for awesome chest thumping material anyway

probably, but no guarantees. Mallory as much as we didn't give a lot of love to was productive. We don't know what we have in these kids.

What does that have to do with this year's team and Lance guidry?

Emotional take. Do better my guy. Yall had blind faith in a terrible administration and staffs that did not fit here and now you can't be rational fans. Shtt is comical at this point.

Mtsu didn't lean on **** they outcoached and outschemed us like every staff we faced. Stop it.

And again l wtf does that have to do with THIS YEAR, THIS STAFF? Help me understand

He was, and like so much else we are dealing with unknowns and potential this year. But I would argue that Arroyo and Skinner’s potential in 2023 is higher than Mallory’s as a 5th year player last year.

I like to compare where we're at to where Texas was at..

2018: Tom Herman 10-4
2019: 8-5
2020: 7-3

All with better recruiting classes than Manny had if I remember correctly.

They fired him after 2020.

Sark went 5-7 his first year! And then went 8-5 last year and this year, their favs to win the B12 and possibly make CFP.

For the 2023 season, going 8-4 is good. But it can't be the norm. Both can be true! Lol

I see where you're coming from. But half the players from that 5-7 team are still on the team. They may or may not carry that baggage with them still. But the concern is that when the going gets rough, the culture is still not strong enough that some of them don't belly up.
