The issue isn’t Gattless being fired, it’s the fact that as this process continues to prolong there are good candidates who are coming off the shelf daily, which decreases the good replacement options & increases the pressure to get the next hire right.

If you cut bait with JG at the end of season, you have a 2 month head start to find a viable replacement. Now obviously, the following retort will be, “Mario could have been conducting interviews this entire time..”, if that’s true, then that both makes it a less desirable job for a potential high-level OC (because if you’re an OC with multiple job offers which one would likely take?) & further highlights the slim margin of error for the next hire (If you’ve been conducting interviews for 2 months you kinda have no choice but to hit a Homerun, because if not wtf were you doing?).

If you’re going to wait this long it has to be worthwhile, otherwise you find yourself for the 2nd year in a row having to take a 4th or 5th option, which isn’t the ideal scenario coming off a 5-7 season.

Or the new OC has already been offered and is ready to be announced once the current OCs departure is announced. Patience grasshopper!

Is it possible that Cristobal is part grizzly bear and went into hibernation as soon as the season ended?

Omg Mario isn’t working on your TL so you’re complaining.

Mario gets paid Millions of dollars so he obviously knows more than you sir.

The candidates he’s ready to go are far superior to anything Gattis could ever think of.

Mario does things when he is ready and it’s silly that you would question that Moper!!

I’d like to add some young , up and comers to the staff, we need balance . New ideas and high energy for recruiting.
What’s the likelihood that happens? Has Mario ever hired such a type for a coordinator position?

Here’s the sad reality: Mario probably won’t hire an OC that turns out to be any good. His OC hiring record is mediocre, if not poor.

Hopefully he proves me wrong. I didn’t think he’d necessarily fire Gattis, so maybe Mario will surprise again.

Or go the L$U-Joe Brady route. A young NFL guy with a bright mind, starting his career, so-to-speak.

Maybe lightning doesn’t strike twice, but what the heck?

You do realize that this situation is not in Mario's hands right? The Athletic Director, Dan Radakovich, is the individual with the responsibility for all contract related issues ... including termination related issues in complex contractual agreements.

Exactly. A signed contract and the language therein usurps any “right to work” law. “Right to work” with Gatass is not an issue whatsoever.

The supposed combined Michigan/Miami contractual issues could create some stumbling blocks. I can understand that Miami may be attempting to not pay any more $$$ than absolutely necessary but when is enough enough before any more short term damage is done concerning recruiting, continuity, etc?

I’m going to guess when we are running a punter out there as a WR that might be enough 🤷‍♂️
