Jordan Seaton to Portal to Knoxville Car Wreck Guy (LSU)

We wanted him so this is not the staff’s position, but I’m glad we didn’t get this guy. Him and Levitt are cut from the same cloth. Bad reputations and family members running their processes.

That said, we have to figure out this OL. Too many misses in ‘the ‘24 class.
Talent, but not sure the juice is worth the squeeze with drama they’d bring with them.

No it will not. I am willing to bet right now that Miami will have a top 5 offensive line in the nation by playoff time. Mark my words McCoy will be one best tackles in the conference and he will be drafted in the 27 draft.
I hope you are right. I think we will have one of the best OLs in the country. My thing is when it comes playoff time, that’s what I think of. When the players we go against are way better than the acc.

We brought in some really talented freshman, hopefully some guys are ready for immediate playing time.

I think we will be fine
Agreed, recruiting, portal or HS, isn’t static. You set your sights on a guy, but always looking over his shoulder for his replacement just in case. I’m sure there’s a list of guys wanting to come here. Maybe not high 1st round guys. But still will get drafted in the first round, and maybe a little smarter and more coachable. Just sayin’

Didn't think the oline would be a question going into fall but here we are. Problem is we've been spoiled lol. I'm sure they'll figure it out. I do agree the 24 class had too many misses. Main issue is depth.

You guys also forget the scheme and the near zero line splits we have, make it difficult to get a pass rush against us with loops and stunts teams operate with.

There are ways to hide talent deficits.
Yes and no. Those tight splits help inside pass rush, stunts, A gap blitzes, etc but they also bring edge guys in closer to the QB, so that QB needs to be careful not to drop too deep and if the tackle gets beat off the snap, it's over. If Coleman was the QB last season, he would have needed a deeper drop vs a guy like Beck.

Also, the tight splits mean you must move your defender in the run game, not just wall off. We've struggled with that at times this season with teams slanting or pinching, like Indiana was doing, clogging the middle.

We didn’t sign many OL in the 24 class. Is minaya considered a miss?

The guys we tried to sign and didn’t are also misses. We just had a gap of big-time OL recruiting between 23 and 26.

Here’s one thing I think people are not realizing - OL unlike every other position doesn’t rotate a lot of guys. DL depth and multiple players playing is valued. Just look at this year as an example of the snaps for the OL. OL it’s about consistency and less swapping.

Yes we didn’t get great recruiting of top end tackles but we had a 3 year starter is Cici and a 2 year guy in Bell. The top kids want to play and we spent a lot with Samson. We did loose out as like the second place to a lot of top kids.

Also if anyone relied on Seaton coming that was a mistake.

I wish we did grab one of the higher rated transfer tackles but who knows why we didn’t. It didn’t seem like the OL transfer class this year was robust.

Maybe Kinsler comes back??

Wonder if the board will bring the “are we really questioning the staff regarding o line” energy when it’s D saying it
I will say it. No real complaining from me until we see something on the field. Almost no one replaces a top 5 overall pick. And anyway, "good enough" is always the only standard.

Seaton wants a ring in the circus. It's why he went to hang with Dion in Colorado and why he was drawn to dysfunction at LSU and now in ****ville with a rabid fan base but 2nd rate SEC team.

Yeah seaton cares about development. 😭😭. Then commits to a guy who has never developed a single o lineman. That’s like saying you want a loyal woman then go marry a girl who makes a living in p00rn hub.
