Jon Richt QB Stats at Mars Hill University

You have to be joking with your lazy attempt at protecting a beyond mediocre position coach on our team...C'mon man...Jr is trash...absolute trash.

Dude, OP is saying that only a good QB can be a competent QB coach. No one is defending Jon Richt; we are simply saying that a QB coach didn’t have to be a star when he played in order to be a competent coach.

So we don’t think it’s relevant at all that he couldn’t grasp playing the position himself?

This is a lazy attempt to try and portray something we already know. Jon Richt sucks. Him sucking at QB in high school has nothing to do with his ability to coach. Just like being a hall of famer doesn't mean you'll be the best candidate for a position coach.

Simply a case of a father bringing his son along too fast. Would have better served had dad used a connection to get him started elsewhere.

Dude couldn’t figure the position out at a place called mars hill. Not exactly a high level of football. That does say something.

Walt Bell was just hired as a head coach at 34 years old after being the offensive coordinator/QB coach at a program like FSU at 33. Clearly a rising star in the profession.

He played WR (not QB) at Middle Tennessee State, and in his career he caught 2 passes for 21 yards in 4 years.

We all know Jon Richt only got this job because of his daddy, and he doesn't deserve it. But to bring up his college stats within a mile of the conversation about his coaching abilities is completely moronic. This entire thread is incredibly retarded, even for this site.

No one believes Jon Richt is doing even an adequate job coaching QBs.

But some on here have nothing better to do than to sit around trying to think up creative ways to bash the Richts. This latest attempt is another lame example.

What’s worse is the couple of Morans in this thread who have nothing better to do than to sit around trying to think up creative ways to bash some on here who have nothing better to do than to sit around trying to think up creative ways to bash the Richts.

tbh, Richt sr was buried in the depth chart in miami, and barely played, and went on to be a successful head coach. I am not buying the sucky stats equals bad coach.

I think its bad coach = bad coach. Plenty of guys who never even played their position who turn out to be excellent coaches.

But Richt also didn’t go from chitty football player to coaching QB. He had to work his way to OC and that took yrs. So he was tutored first, before being promoted. That’s the case for most of these guys. Never have I seen what’s going on w Jon. It’s pure blind nepotism.

Has any All American player ever become a great coach?
