Jon Drummond and Chad Wilson....and a question for Pete.....

C4L, Did you miss the part where Pete said Yearby had a handler? You think he got paid too?

You people see the word 'handler' and assume it involves shady dealings. A lot of these dudes grow up without fathers and so they have mentors, coaches, uncles, buddy from the block, etc. who are a part of their life and eventually become a part of their recruiting process. Some coaches consider those people 'third parties' and don't want to work with them but that's problematic. If a kid has been mentored by a guy since pop warner then why the **** would that person not be a part of their recruiting process? These are people they trust. That's what Pete means by embracing the third parties. But I guess its best to remain ignorant and accuse everybody of shopping kids for a payoff.

in some cases but not most. Let's not act like genron is a freaking saint. Bunch of you sound like battered wives making excuses for their abusers because one time out of 50 they "deserved" to be hit.

So an administrator of this site thinks we should play ball with these shady characters? Interesting.

Adapt or die

Looks like CIS is trying to jedi mind trick it posters into believing these types are needed.

The areas our coaches need too adapt. Is winning at a high level, and developing the talent they are getting. Into guys that are sure fire 1st round talent.

The lack in the area's above. Are the only true selling points these devils have. At steering kids away from this program. Take this away from them, and they are up a creek with no paddle.

I understand why a guy like Pete needs these guys around, but this program doesn't.

+10000

**** embracing these scumbags! They are only out for themselves and not for the best interest of these kids. And if they go down, they'd consider it an honor to take down the U if possible!

Its been said a million times on this board for a reason…. "WINNING CURES ALL"

If we ball out, these slimy ***** don't have any crap to feed these kids.

Golden won't do it. Its part of his bull**** persona to act like he's above it all. Hes a college football coach, what does he expect? Either accept reality or get the **** out.

If Coley was the Head Coach we would have had a top 5 class.

Again, IDGAF about Genron. I don't know that dude's deal. My comments aren't about him specifically, just in general.

Not every kid in south florida respects these clowns. Some "handlers" are actual mentors: uncles, etc, not pimps. If certain kids associate themselves with these types of dudes then dont recruit em.

Well, that's the dilemma, isn't it? If you cut out top talent because of who their 'handler' is, then you could be biting the hand that feeds you. So, do you play the game and put your program at risk from an NCAA standpoint, or do you cut them out completely and put your program at risk by alienating local talent, which is the backbone of your program? I'm glad the decision isn't mine to make, but I would hope that there's some way to find a middle ground in there somewhere. AG and the staff have to find it, and their jobs depend on doing that.

No NO NO sir. Im sorry but its clear we are talking about different things here. We are OBVIOUSLY Dealing with "handlers and mentors" already, since as you and Pete have clearly stated, Yearby had one, as did some of these other kids. But were now talking about Genron, and there is this implication that we need to make a guy like that a "part of the process". A guy who has ADMITTEDLY taken money from schools to shop players, and was booted from SFE for unethical behavior.

So were talking about two different animals here. Because if this was simply about dealing with a handler or mentor of a kid, it would obviously be a moot point no? Since we just signed several that had them.

I think the point Pete is trying to make is that while many of you may see Genron as a dirty dude, the recruits he deals with may not see him that way.

Now I don't know if he's shopping players or whatever. But even if he is there's probably a kid that he's mentored who trusts him. So embrace him as much as you can within the rules. I think that's the point.

Instead of saying 'he has a handler, we're not dealing with him.' Not all 'handlers' are in it for dirty reasons. In the case of a guy like Yearby Coley cultivated that relationship whereas maybe without Coley that's a situation your staff may not have touched. Who knows.

smh did you see the post I made directed to Pete about referring to C**** as a ***** handler. He's a mentor, that's why no one freakin knows about him except the people who know about him. He's not on the blogs making things about him, it's all about the kids.

Handlers have Sean Combs disease so they have to be on every song and in every video. Even worse they are like coaches who play daddy ball they have tunnel vision and are only focus on one thing. Every kid ain't making it to the league, not even the 5* once in a lifetime kids. A real mentor looking for more than just who can get my kid to the league the fastest. It's not 1995 anymore, if you're good enough to be in the league I don't give a **** where you play you'll get a shot. You may not get drafted where you may have, but if you're supposed to be in the league you'll be there. Just like the ones players that aren't supposed to be there, but got there because of school friendly schemes, they don't stay there for long. Handlers are easy to find and they aren't that rampant. There is a reason why people in Tally, Clemson, Ohio, LA, and Gainesville (just to name a few )know who Genron is.

Also the staff had a relationship with this mentor w/out Coley, that's why it's misleading to only mention Yearby, but not mention a kid like Mike Smith or any of the other kids he has connections with like OT (etc). Mike Smith doesn't drive the "embrace" handlers movement quite as well. I can see it now, w/o Coley and his relationship to Mike Smith's "handler" he wouldn't have committed to Miami? Yeah that shizzz wouldn't fly. *** the handlers. There are real mentors out there, find out who they are, embrace them. That goes for everyone on the staff including Coley.

U CANT PLEASE THOSE PARASITES LIKE GENRON

NEVER HAVE BEEN ABLE TO AND NEVER WILL BE ABLE TO

U DONT KISS THEIR *** OVER ONE PLAYER AND THEY GET THEIR PANTIES IN A BUNCH

Moronic.
miami was under investigation, and now on probation. Under watch.

if what Oregon just got now happened to miami on probation, you guys would all be hoping we could even be as good as temple after what the NCAA would do to miami. And I'm not a golden defender so don't even go there.

but I'm not an ostrich either, hiding my head away from actual reality of the situation to back an agenda that suits my desires

You're saying what I'm saying and actually proving my point by bringing up dudes like Smith and OT. Almost all these dudes have a 3rd party involved in their recruitment, that was my point. 90% of them are in the mold of the mentor like you mentioned. But everybody is lumping all 'handlers' into the category of Genron and that's just wrong, that was my point. Most handlers are of the mentor type, so alienating all 'handlers' is stupid, you're cutting yourself off from a lot of talent that way.

Its stupid to suggest that Golden is "above it all". I dont think he is, and that's proof by some of the kids from So Fla we DID pull. The difference is UM is on probation, and UM compliance would have a stroke with some of the characters running around So Fla, and the 7 on 7 circuit.

The other thing to consider, is that Golden does seem to be looking for kids who are going to stick around and not ***** the program. Kids with some character. One of the things that has really hurt this program the last decade is mass transfers and guys just flaking out. Our depth was demolished by defections every year. How many Dequan Ivery, Storm Johnson, EJ, Paul, Grimble, Terry, Finnie, situations have we had to deal with in the last 5-6 years alone? A few kids here and there happens to all programs, but the sheer numbers we have lost have had a real impact on the depth and development of this team. I think the staff may be looking more at kids that they think will stick, not just pure talent.
