Here is the quote about bowls and November games. He isn’t exactly wrong.

“We need to make sure there’s no complacency. For example, that the bowl game, the postseason becomes a serious thing for Miami. Let’s call it what it is: There’s been an arrogant approach to the postseason and late-season games unless you’re playing for it all. That can’t happen here.”

A given? Man, that’s a surprisingly high volume IMO. Most of them won’t be missed but there will be a surprise or two.

Update: I didn’t think of graduates and declaring to NFL so that makes sense.
Right. Even in the places that rarely have roster turnover aside from NFL and graduation, like Clemson, they're still pulling in at least 20 new guys per year in their smallest class sizes.

30 is expected in this era of recruiting

My count is
Seniors that walked: Cloyd, Couch, Cohen, Davis, Deen, Flagg, Harrell, K Smith, Lee, Lichtenstein, Chris Washington, Chantz Williams (12)
Early declarations: James Williams, Kinchens, Taylor, Rivers, maybe even someone like George, Restrepo, Young, Parrish, etc. (Likely 2-4 total early declarations)
Retire/Transfer/Scholarship not renewed: Redding, Ladson, Balom, Nelson, Sagapolu (3-5 of these)
Transfers: Burroughs, rumors already out on Denis, Moss, Davonte Brown, Van Dyke, Jacurri, Brashard, Chaney, etc.

Easily 20 leaving without even getting into much speculation on transfers. If 15 leave via portal then you have to bring in 35 total.

Seems like 25 and 10 should be the new norm/expectation for what to bring in every year. Which just seems crazy.

25 signees
10 transfers

Hopefully as we build a better roster those numbers come down to closer to 25 overall (20 and 5ish or so) but it's hard to imagine ever being under 20 again in this new era of CFB.

My daughter in CA came across the Yahoo article on McCormick seeking a ninth year and she was astounded. I told her he was on the Bluto Blutarsky academic plan.

Agree.. I'd like to plan on 5-8 from the portal and be very selective. Also aggressive because you know exactly what positions.

Based on Mario's interview we are clearly trimming the roster ( he wants over 30 new players, more Bain's), sounds like some new coaches could be added, and he talked about looking for a QB. it sounded like TVD and Jacurri are gone. Some of us have discussed this stuff privately now it seems Mario is going public.

Another interesting thing. He said Miami needs more late season winter games to be tough and we need to have pride late in season and in bowl games regardless of the bowl.

Clearly trimming the roster is a stretch. He said he expects at least that many and didn’t specify HS or portal additions. He didn’t make it “sound like” anything concerning TVD and/or Jacurri. Never mentioned them or the QB room specifically. Joe asked about Guidry and Mario basically said he did a good job with all the injuries and put his guys in a position to succeed but he made NO indication of any changes in the staff.

Really hoping you’re wrong on Rivers. Losing that guy would hurt.

Yeah Guidry did a great job and ironically what he did only highlighted what Dawson was lacking even further

If he can get decimated by injuries and install a bear defense in one week to slow Clemson down, the certainly Dawson could have changed some plays to help TVD out

But I digress…
