Joaquin wants all the smoke

You want them to listen? It starts with your pockets. When donations, ticket sales, apparel sales, etc., go down, or better yet, stop, they listen.
Half of zero is still zero. I skipped all games this year. Now what?

This has, literally, never happened at UM. There has never been a year when the UM President and BOT listened and took action due to reduced donations, ticket sales, and apparel sales.

I'm fine with people trying that approach, I'm just pointing out there is absolutely no history of it impacting our athletic program in terms of making changes.

i would slightly disagree here. I believe it happened in Shannon’s last year. The stadium was embarrassing to a level not seen before or after. I remember sitting at the USF game watching Kirby come in the suite and sitting down next to Shalala right when the game went to OT And started whispering to her. I knew Shannon was gone then.

Donations and ticket sales reached levels that got everyone’s attention. I also believe that’s why he got one year less than Golden.

Shalala publicly cited waning fan support as the reason she fired Shannon.

This was his response to SMD tweeting the DVD to USU news.

From what I understand, JG is in/around the program fairly consistently (do I have that right?; if I have this wrong, please save yourself and stop reading 😀)

IF true, his responses lately (and very publicly) setup up interesting dynamic(s):

1. JG's comments (well intentioned or not) are limiting Manuela's maneuver space--and he [Diaz] is already struggling carrying the rocks in his ruck as it is--disappointing for all

2. JG approached Manuela privately, and has now concluded these comments are his only recourse--disappointing likely for JG

2. These comments put Manuela in awkward position (don't even get me started on AD James' fecklessness) as no good/great leader (hint: he isn't) would tolerate JG in/around program while Baker still employed--disappointing likely for Manuela

3. Manuela responds to JG's pressure with some/all staff moves (clown show here we come) --disappointing for Manuela

4. JG feels these comments get him noticed by BoT for a special. committee slot (I don't buy this as unfoubtedly he has Vilma on speed dial) --disappointing for JG

Obviously I'm not in the building, but this is another glaring symptom of top to bottom lack of effective organizational leadership and structure.

One of the BOT gave an interview after Richt retired, and he spoke about fan dissatisfaction and pressure and how is part of the calculus. It was posted back then, but I’d have no idea where to find it.

You can be an alum and a fan and not be happy about the performance and decisions without being an unsufferable mope.
15 years of a bad product does this. It’s 2020, and after Coker, Randy, Golden, Richt and now Diaz, Miami is coming off arguably the worst loss in its history and another bowl loss. The idiots in charge are repeating history with their mistakes. Fans are angry, and rightfully so. Fans who complain about “mopes” shouldn’t go online after that season ending disaster. What else do you expect?
