Jennings

Just came across this on YouTube from the NC State game .

What can Baker actually call to hide this type of linebacker play ? Look at Jennings in these plays man lord have mercy

Haha remember seeing some of his live and wondering if he is taught to take on the blockers. Our LB don’t shot gaps to make tackles. They look to engage blockers haha.

worst LB play I think I have ever seen at Miami by an entire unit for a year. This is my issue with Manny, he has no excuses for this. He has been here 5 years these are his handpicked guys. His LB recruiting/development is dreadful. We kill Rumph on this board but Manny/Baker are possibly worse. This is why I don’t think we will ever be elite until this defensive staff is overhauled.

Why can't we assess performance without bashing the player? I'm confident Jennings is trying really hard. I'm sure there are numerous plays that are not in that video where he diagnosis the play.

With that said, he's clearly playing at a level significantly below Shaq and its up to the coaches to improve his performance or make a move. Our starting LBs are the weak link in our defensive chain and that's on Diaz who, as others have noted, has been here 5 years and has had a say in our LB recruiting, development and scheme the entire time. No excuses...fix it!

Yikes - and I think Baker said he had one of his best games? LOL.

Look at the way he takes on blocks and also how he runs himself out of plays. It really shows you how poorly coached he is. Other teams know exactly how to attack us with motion, misdirection, attacking the edges, etc because they know our LB's are clueless. VT is gonna have a field day.

Here is more video of him

I'm just saying if you have zero ability, studying your *** off watching film should allow you to make plays. These guys are so bad that film doesn't help.

Yah, that technique with the parallel shoulders is aweful. How does our LB coach ever allow anyone to play that way. He also turns his body when taking on blockers like a soft QB trying to lessin the impact. You have to stick your head in the fan and make the play. Even better, shed the block and make the play.
Lol no LB coach in America coaches tht. He has to either put his lead shoulder in the chest of whatever lineman tries to reach for the 2nd level or get skinny and get around. Again 55 would do that and make these plays consistently in traffic. Avg level LBs tend not too. That’s the level these guys are playing at RN

hes being told to play outside leverage and turn plays in, looks like unfortunately ford is doing the opposite and creating a hole, and on the outside run theres a missed tackle, someone is in the wrong gap, jennings is not physical enough to do much more, someone needs to be cleaning up soon

I think average is even a reach.

Shaq in 4yrs never had a season having less than 80 tackles. If Miami plays their 11 games plus a bowl game, we probably still wont have a LB with 60 tackles. You can't have a good defense with linebackers that don't make plays. Period
In fairness, Shaq never left the field. He was on every defensive package. Deservedly. The guys we have rotating at linebacker this year only play around 40-45 plays a game. Even if they weren’t terrible, you’re never going to rack up big tackle numbers playing half a game

At least 3/4 of the people posting in this thread were saying shlt like “I can’t wait till Shaq and Pinckney graduate and get the fūck out of here.” if you asshøles would’ve had your way, they would’ve left a year early, you wanted them out so bad

This is what you got.

That’s why I don’t listen to any of you motherfūckers.
I tried to tell em they’d miss 55. 56 was an average player but even average looks great compared to what we have this year

I been telling y’all him and McLost were buttcheeks. Both of them make these zero awareness plays and sometimes on the same play lmao
I got drilled for saying no way the young guys can be this lost out there. Especially when Diaz says the young guys do not know what to do!! I created the nickname “McLost” for him.

Every since Mike Barrows left, our linebackers have all looked loss, and are constantly out of position! I don’t even blame the kids anymore, they don’t have any development at that position. The same way kids come in as freshman, is the same way they leave as seniors!

We lost two 4 year starters in Pinckney and Shaq so some drop-off was to be expected, but this has been falling off a cliff. The LB's are lost out there, can't defend the run or cover. It's a problem that needs immediate fixing.

Why post dude???.. I guess Ray Lewis sucked and Dan Morgan sucked??.. right???

Let’s put it this way.
An overweight slow 5’10 freshman with no spring to practice played better than a junior that’s been in the same system with the same coaches his whole time here. And he did it against one of the top 3 teams in the nation.
I Guess If You Say So GIF
