Idk If it’s them not diagnosing presnap..you look at those first few plays, 44 is reacting but his running with his shoulders parallel to the LOS..that’s a big no no. 6 is also late to react, this allows the Line to get to the 2nd level and get a block on him. Look there no doubt our LBs are more athletic then last years group. But if your not reacting your just playing slow. I knew the drop off from 55 especially would be drastic so I’m personally not at surprised...a lot of ppl on this board Owe shaq a personal apology for the scrutiny he unfairly received here at times. This is what All American level play for 2 years loos like when’s its replaced by avg starter level play

Shaq in 4yrs never had a season having less than 80 tackles. If Miami plays their 11 games plus a bowl game, we probably still wont have a LB with 60 tackles. You can't have a good defense with linebackers that don't make plays. Period

Let’s put it this way.
An overweight slow 5’10 freshman with no spring to practice played better than a junior that’s been in the same system with the same coaches his whole time here. And he did it against one of the top 3 teams in the nation.

It's D1 football, if this dude cannot read a play he won't make it on any D1 team.

Instinct also cannot be taught.

I will not take all the blame off the coaches, but Jennings just flat out has to do better as well. Some dudes are built like LBs and some dudes ARE LBs.

Baker and the 29 LB coaches have 2 clear options: Coach Jennings up better; or coach up his replacement. Pretty basic. There are no excuses. Diaz has been the DC/HC for 5 years now, so he should have a capable MLB on the roster.

I love the play where he just stands still, doesn’t budge in the least. He looked like a statue. This has to end! From UAB on he has looked terrible. He may be a hard hitter but he would have to hit the correct hole (and not get blocked out) to actually draw decent contact. We need a stud fast. We have to have someone on the roster that can play better than that. Beating the same drum as the rest of you.

I honestly didn’t know someone’s instincts could be this bad. He’s clueless on the field. We should just spot them an extra 11th man. How in the **** have we kept the guys behind him out of the portal? I would have dipped after the first week of being behind that guy on the chart- and I’m a 50 year-old white guy.

Make no mistake. These Linebackers are doing exactly what they're coached to do. Which is to engage the blocker/offensive line so the safeties can come up and make the tackle.

There is no fundamental logic or "reading keys" or gap assignment.

Its clear as day that the coaches dont teach that stuff after watching this video. Jennings literally runs straight into linemen and turns his back.

I honestly think the entire defense is predicated on this concept as well because it doesn't seem like all 11 players are on the same page.

I would LOVE to see reporters ask questions that would clarify these things about the scheme or apparent lack thereof.

A and b gap always has to be accounted for..at least that’s what I learned. Our weak side lbs too many times are slow to react and allow the line to get on them at the 2nd level..u watch 55 last year and how he played in the booth. And how 56 would quickly diagnose and react either front sid or backside. Or guys lack instincts at times. And it’s not just 44

Somehow they’re instincts are worse but they are also slower. And hit worse. They’re worse at everhthing. Shaq and pink might as have been urlacher and Mike singltary
