JB Grimes?

I mean could anybody possibly be worse than Butch Barry? Who the fook was that guy? Assistant OL coach for an NFL team with a terrible OL and 5 years under Penos at Central ******* Michigan? Wow. What a resume.
Seems like samething was said when guy before Barry went to UNC searles or whatever his name was

I'm good with him, long time experienced vet whose coached some good OL's in the past before.

He was at Miss St with Sylvester Croom, also coached with RC Slocum back in the day at TAMU.

But every great Auburn team in recent history, Grimes was coaching there OL, during the beginning of the Malzahn era when they went to the natty vs FSU with Nick Marshall & Tre Mason.

He's a good coach, I'm not really worried about his recruiting acumen because at OL there's no secret sauce, it's more about can you develop guys & turn them into a stout line.

Recruiting skill is more important for positions coaches at WR, RB, DB, LB etc, but at OL it's all about how good a teacher you are & how well you can get guys acclimated to running the system.
And he has a history for getting kids to the league which they always look for

He's not my first choice, but I think he'd be an upgrade over Botch Berry & he knows Lash's offense which is key.

I'll just be happy if it means that Lashlee is gonna move on from Berry & Stubbs & not bring two GA's on to be full time coaches lol.

Our D staff is full of GA’s. Would be par for the course with this buffoon as our HC

I would pass on JB Grimes because he is in the sunset of his career and has been the beneficiary of the Auburn Bagmen. So recruiting oline kids to Miami will be hard for him and will take more effort than he is used to giving especially when he is looking at retirement.

I prefer a young up and coming OL coach that is hungry.

Sounds like JB Grimes was on his way out at Auburn and if he comes to Miami it is Lashlee giving him a golden parachute since Diaz is on the hot seat JB Grimes contract would most likely be most guaranteed money. This guy should be a pass.

**** man the NY Giants had an o-line coach who was like 112 years old and they won a super bowl and ran all over the league with his o-line. You guys love to dump on guys who have 25 plus years experience. Seems kind of idiotic to me. You interview the guy and if he has the it factor roll with it. If he's a lame duck tell him kick rocks. Just keep kicking tires till you find the right guy. Checkers not chess (Where the fck is FSU WHO at).

JB Grimes was most likely on his way out at Auburn. Come on now you are using a 9 or 11 yr old references with Giants grey beard oline coach. Also the college game is different from the pros and requires way more energy and vigilance.

Look at Auburn's oline recruiting class for 2020 it was sad considering they had a good season and have Bagmen. Grimes was a lazy recruiter for the 2020 class given the OL available this year throughout the south.

You talking about the Patriots oline coach? Who retired... oline went to ****... and Belichick went and begged him to come back out of retirement in his 80s to come coach his guys back up and did and they won like two or 3 more Super Bowls since then?

I agree age is irrelevant as long as you can get the point your teaching across.

For the posters who (predictably) don’t like him. Who do you all want to hire as OL coach? Realistic options only.

I’ll hang up and listen.

It must be true.......

We could do much worse. With that being said, we could also do better.

Not going to fault Lashlee for wanting to bring in his own guy. He’s got one season to make this work.

J.B. left Auburn in his first stint to go coach at Cinci with Tuberville who also offered his son, Nick Grimes, a TE/FB coach role. Nick is now OC at some small school.

I wonder if he’s talking the Grimes into coming here. Possibly give his son TE coach/run game coordinator title.
