JB Grimes?

@Liberty City El what do you think of Grimes
I'm good with him, long time experienced vet whose coached some good OL's in the past before.

He was at Miss St with Sylvester Croom, also coached with RC Slocum back in the day at TAMU.

But every great Auburn team in recent history, Grimes was coaching there OL, during the beginning of the Malzahn era when they went to the natty vs FSU with Nick Marshall & Tre Mason.

He's a good coach, I'm not really worried about his recruiting acumen because at OL there's no secret sauce, it's more about can you develop guys & turn them into a stout line.

Recruiting skill is more important for positions coaches at WR, RB, DB, LB etc, but at OL it's all about how good a teacher you are & how well you can get guys acclimated to running the system.

**** LCE thanks. I hope we land him. We will see.

He coached with Drinkwitz at Auburn. I don't think Missouri has an o line coach yet.
Drinkwitz was at Auburn for two years as a Quality Control guy. Grimes followed Lashlee to UCONN and then resigned once Lashlee went to SMU. Not saying that won't happen but he's been tied to Lashlee in the past more than Drinkwitz.

Would prefer JB Smoove tbh

I mean could anybody possibly be worse than Butch Barry? Who the fook was that guy? Assistant OL coach for an NFL team with a terrible OL and 5 years under Penos at Central ******* Michigan? Wow. What a resume.
What’s crazier is that he wasn’t even the OL coach at CMU the majority of the time he was there; instead, he coached tight ends...

He's not my first choice, but I think he'd be an upgrade over Botch Berry & he knows Lash's offense which is key.

I'll just be happy if it means that Lashlee is gonna move on from Berry & Stubbs & not bring two GA's on to be full time coaches lol.
I hope you are right about them taking legit
Coaches and not GA

Herb Hand is one of the best OL coaches in CFB and Auburn fans hate him? Yeah I couldn't care less what they think. I bet (some) Miami fans said similar things about Stoutland who's one of the best OL coaches on the planet now.

Grimes turned this guy into a likely Day 2 pick ^

The fact that he's stepping down from his position instead of just announcing where he's going coincides with Lashlee meeting with Barry to fire him tomorrow bodes well. If he were willing to follow Lashlee to UCONN then I'd imagine he'd follow him to Miami. Getting a guy who is a great teacher here makes perfect sense.
