2027 Jaxon Dollar 5* TE from Denver, NC (East Lincoln HS) Commits to UGA

U are 100% correct about Dawson. How tf can he be considered an elite OC when his perimeter run game is virtually nonexistent? Merely installing an air raid passing game, doesn't make u an elite OC; the type of running game u choose to deploy matters just as much, if not more. He's also not an elite OC because he lacks the ability to sequence as a play caller. Being elite requires there's a logical flow with how plays are called; each play should set up a future one. Too often it feels like Dawson is calling plays in a disjointed & arbitrary manner; as if he is picking them out of a hat. Ultimately, this team is winning in spite of Dawson, & not because of him.

The reason why they continue to say this, despite what the evidence & data shows, is because they learned the game from playing Madden, & wish the game becomes a glorified 7v7 drill. Smh. They simply lack the understanding of what playing complementary, championship caliber football entails. Someone needs to let these m'fers know that gunslingers rarely win championships in college; for every Burrow, Newton, & Watson, there's 20 other QBs who won a NC playing within the structure of a offense, & they view as being a game manager.

If Dawson's rushing offense was better, this team would've easily won the NC last yr. The defense, o-line, & QB(after Louisville), were all playing championship caliber football. This team's EPA was 10th in passing & 26th in rushing, & yet we still have people on this forum saying passing is why we didn't win it; please make it make sense. Smh. This team had the 4th worst rushing offense in the entire playoff field, & 1 of those teams was from the G5, who had no business even being in the tournament. Just think about how much better the passing game, & defense would've been if the rushing attack was at least top 20?

Yeah I’m not sold on Dawson. I still feel that our offense under Ward, was just because Ward was doing what he wanted out there. He was calling all the shots. Dawson had me so frustrated half the year last year. He will make some beautiful plays calls but also do some really really really dumb stuff that stalls drives. I’m not a fan of his and he still has to prove something to me.

I’m actually good w Dawson
It’s just like my feelings w Mario….
I see improvement
Ward was Ward and it was just stupid how good he was
Beck was solid but at times not great decision maker and I think Shannon had to account for it
Experience thru playoffs was awesome
For EVERYONE on staff and team

I LOVED the move going to Pistol! It made our run game virtually unstoppable

When I had a chance to talk w him during his recruitment of Eli, I emphasized that!!! Fletcher from Pistol is a dark horse heisman candidate
And he said that it definitely will be so
Thing they lean into moving forward.

Also, think about all the ways Shannon schemed to get Mali the ball! Give credit, he did it and ensured our best player had ball!!!

Bauman was weak link, 4 wide needs to be a bigger piece of offense imo and w all the WR
My bet is he will do it

So is there an actual update on Dollar? @Brooklyndee @Trafficante ?

It'd be nice if the Dawson tears didn't have to derail this thread

That’s crazy people still sleeping on Dawson! The Cam year Cam audibled a lot, but he didn’t just do his own thing. A QB changing plays is because the OC prepared him to do so. They gameplan for what to call if they see this and that. Don’t believe for a second that Cam was out here calling all his own plays and drawing routes on the ball like street ball 😂. Shannon was in his ear with the headset whole time. He ran the offense, not Cam. cam was given freedom to change plays and a lot of times when we had numbers advantage he changed to a run. Hence why we had a thousand yard rusher and another guy (Fletcher) with a good season, despite his injury. If it was up to Cam ninjah would’ve passed every down 😂

For me, this year will tell all for Dawson. And yes I see coaching improvement across the board for Miami. If we put up an elite offense which I don’t see many ways around that.

You’re right about his scheming for Mali and once they finally switched up the running game. Running out of the pistol was a major difference. Bauman was horrendous last year. Cost us a natty with his non-blocking a$$

I think the staff had an epiphany after that SMU loss. They opened up the offense, ran pistol and got creative getting the ball to Mali. But I get where you are coming from because it seems like Dawson struggles a little to find his groove and maintain it for the entire game. And Bauman hurt us… but I look at the fact that he could have went 4 wide instead a bit more knowing he was more of a liability. But if he learns that lesson and plays to his strengths and his best players, we could average 40-45 a game this year.

Led the country in scoring in 24 with 43.9 a game. Think the issue was more so qb and wr group last year

The best sequence play caller was John Harbaugh when he was at Michigan.

He knew how to let his inside and outside run with play action and roll outs, with under center out of gun.
It was awesome, this was noticable at San Fran.
He understood both inside the box play and the passing game and how it all blends to one another and how you can stretch one or affect the other.

Amazing how one player (Cam Ward) probably changed the entire trajectory of Mario’s future and this entire program. I say this because we probably only win 4 games that year because the defense was just so bad. We needed every bit of Cam that year. If that year went that bad we have no momentum and not sure how recruiting would have went after that. This years offense could be even better. Probably more methodical and pick you apart though.

Yea cam set the ground work for a lot of stuff. He help kill a big narrative that was around mario that QBs can’t flourish under him. Showed you can come to Miami and be a legit star. And obviously the wins was most important

And that narrative was bogus anyway. Cam isn’t the only top 10 qb Mario put in the draft

If Dawson used his 4th qtr playbook for all 4 qrts, Miami destroys every offensive record ever created, or will be created. But he too busy using the Ask Madden plays to build suspense.
