I'm listening in right now as Frank Beamer is telling Ja Wand Blue, "you lied to me." #VaTech #Canes

Blue is telling Frank Beamer, "I wanted to stay home." Beamer: "This doesn't make any sense. I've never felt more betrayed or lied to."

Matt Porter @mattyports Close
Beamer, to Blue: "You want to go to a program that wins bowl games, a clean program, that dominates in the ACC?"

Matt Porter @mattyports Close
Beamer: "It would be a blessing for you to go away for school. I promise. You've got homeboys here. ... We need you. We're counting on you."

Ja Wand Blue is listening to Beamer speak his piece. This is incredibly awkward.

Oh how I enjoyed that.

Haven't heard much about Blue at all since he's been here. Anyone have anything on how he's looked in practice. He's up to 225 LB's now btw

Last I heard he's bigger and stronger but just not turning heads with his play. Also think he is having a hard time with the mental aspect of the scheme. I think he will be a contributor*next season

I remember that and fully understood where Beamer was coming from. He had a solid commitment all during the recruiting season. Then under the cover of darkness, in the 11th hour, The Don slipped in and stole Jawand Blue from Beamer.

I've always kind of liked Frank Beamer and especially Bud Foster (Va Tech DC), but it was good to see coach Golden be able to add quality depth to our roster while causing a strong rival to have a hole in class.

BRAVO, Al

I don't know about liked but I've always respected Beamer and Foster. But this is the kind of commitment that builds conference championship and BCS bowl bound teams bc it adds quality depth and competition. Somebody brought up Randy's 08 class the other day. The reason that class didn't win, outside of their own entitlement and diva problems, was because there weren't any other quality classes to go with that one to add depth and competition. You're always gonna have kids that don't pan out in every class but if you consistently bring in talent and depth every year then your chances of winning are exponentially raised.

Steals like this one help to make up for losses like EJ. It's when you don't have other guys to step in when guys like Cookie Buchanan goes down with injury, or Ray Ray gets suspended that programs and classes don't win. We saw it in Al's first year with all the suspensions and the season was shot. You can't win with just 22 starters on O and D. If Beamer really wanted this kid and with Golden's eye for linebackers being pretty good so far, then this kid will eventually be a solid starter and hopefully more. Hopefully he can make us forget about EJ.

I don't mean to be so hyperbolic about Blue. I just mean to refer to commitments giving us quality depth that we've been lacking.

Looking for Blue to make an impact on special teams this year and move towards more playing time next year.

Blue came because someone else wasn't coming and a scollie opened up. I think he is a great pick up but it might take another year before we see much out of him on the field.

I am with you. I think he will be on special teams this year but won't get serious burn till 2014.

I think its a good thing he's not getting a lot of early PT. We're slowly starting to build something we haven't had in years around the UM Football Program. Some refer to it as depth.

Exactly. Depth is important. I prefer the freshman not playing at certain position and under normal circumstances.

It was DL coach Charley Wiles. Golden offered Blue after FSU stole Reggie Northrup on nsd. Wiles said, along with the aforementioned, "this doesn't make sense to me, I've never felt more betrayed or lied to."

To be fair, it turned out that wasn't Beamer. Ended up being a LB coach or something.

I think the caller's use of "your homeboys" should have been a dead giveaway that it wasn't Flubberneck on the other end of the line.

Bravo for being smart. But you can expect some of the idiots to start questioning whether Blue is a bust if he doesn't break out as a RS Freshmans.
