It's wasn't like that bro.....Tate was closer to playing than you think....Burrows was in the system much longer it was do or die between him and Haskins..Urban knew Burrows or Haskins was going to leave...the battle was setup in thier favor...most osu fans viewed Tate as the future.....the plan was for Tate to back up the winner....Urban had packages designed for him kinda like UGA had for Fields and Bama had for Hurts...don't get it twisted....Tate was VERY close behind....

Maybe YOU don't quite understand the value of your words and the context YOU use them in. YOU SAID ALOT... alot means more than a few out of hundred and change. Sorry but I guess your first statement is back to being moronic again. The answer by the way is very few. Like on one hand u count them. Not alot at all.

Bruh I’m not going through each ******* p5 school to see if true freshman are starting! I’m sure you can do your own research and find ALOT more! I just know ones of the top of my head that are starting at MAJOR schools! Who gives a fu*k if it’s 35 schools or 2 schools! Jarren couldn’t beat 2 scrubs that couldn’t complete 50% of their passes! End of discussion! If Diaz is recruiting all these qbs suddenly that tells you all you need to know! He doesn’t like what he sees in the others

Kind of proves my point. Urban has always had running QBs Haskins and Burrows were the 1st in a very long time. Why wouldn't Martell fit into OSU's offense? Everyone thinks he's the greatest thing since the 10 bite sandwich. Fields isn't much different in the type skills. And if he doesn't fit OSU, why would he fit here? I think we want more of a Big 12 offense, but with a power running game like Oklahoma.

**** no, but let's stop anointing these guys we know very little about. Coaches at these transfer schools have seen these guys day in and day out. I have a wait and see attitude. Let them come and compete under the new regime. We'll get our answer soon enough.

Tate as the future? That's not what I read on OSU fan sites. Critics said he was unable or too slow in reading defenses and making decisions in the passing game. If he was really close then why isn't he the guy now? Why did OSU seek another QB to compete with or replace Martell.? Why did Martell decide to transfer?

A) Martell may not even be cleared to play this year

B) Martell is not being handed the starting job. William's own performance in practice and Spring games, and possibly next season if Martell isn't eligible yet, will have a lot to say about who starts.

It tells you that Jon Richt didn't know the first thing about developing QBs, so Mark Richt just went with the "experienced" guy. Young QBs, including true freshmen, have successfully started at many major programs. The fact that we had TWO highly touted young QBs that were top nationwide recruits and neither were "ready" to start says a lot more about the coaching/training than the players. What are the odds that both high level recruits just happen to be flameouts?

Such nonsense. Burrows had more experience. Many coaches value experience at the backup spot, especially when they give a young guy the starting job. That Martell didn't beat out Haskins isn't a big deal, few players would. Not saying Martell is going to be great, that remains to be seen, but your arguments dismissing him are nonsensical.

Not dismissing him. I'm just not drinking the koolaid thinking he is an upgrade from what we have. Everyone blowing him up as if he was the man at OSU and I pointed out that he was behind 2 other guys. He can come in and compete with our current QBs. May the best man win.

But it IS an upgrade. Even if he doesn't win the starting job, and Jarren Williams does (which I'd be very happy to see), it's another talented QB on the roster that will help push the others to be better, that will provide better competition on the practice field for our defense, and that will be available if a QB ahead of him gets hurt.

Yes. I get it. I'm just pumping the breaks until I see the competition. I'm not writing off N'kosi either. He's young. He will grow. It's up to him as to what kind of college career he has.

I think Weldon and Perry transfer, we get Martell and Hurts, Williams stays.

Trust me I know the area and fan base VERY well....you are way off....OSU recruits top players at all positions every year...top programs stack chips ..they didn't want him to leave...did you look at his film? the portal just changed the game....players are transferring to better situations..... Fields one of the most talented players in the country became available OSU picked him up.... left cuz he was unhappy (like Tate) with his situation.....OU signed the #1 qb in the nation....still went after Hurts....top programs usually have at least 2 capable QBs on the roster.....before he transferred every OSU fan I know was excited to have him next season....you selling Tate short ..he has a chance to be a big-time player....

Yes. I get it. Every team would like to have 2 good QBs. However, they must have felts Fields is much better. They had to know Martell would transfer. No QB anywhere is going to sit more than 1 year 2 at most in becoming the starter. You can't keep 2 starting capable QBs that are the same or only 1 year apart.
