James Franklin

Tony Elliott has to be the one who is ****ed off about this. And Franklin raises the floor for VT by a good margin. He might not have been able to beat Taint or Michigan, but he beat everybody else. Really good evaluator and developer of talent.
 
This is what Penn State deserves for being so delusional.

The fans thought Rhule and Campbell was beneath them, now they’ll be lucky to hire Manny Diaz.

they will also be a far more attractive target in the next round of conference realignment than they were since the end of the beamer years.

They'll soon be the 2nd best team in the ACC which is actually good for us. Even better news is that he can't win big games. So rack up the wins, inflate the ranking and beat them head to head.
Plus, he's very hateable.

Idk aside from a few bad bounces here and there, he kinda reached PSU’s full potential in the modern era. I don’t think Campbell is gonna fare better than him.
 
Look I will reserve judgment. But from a birds eye view, his offenses were very average. Defenses were good. Special teams were probably good as well. But the offense could never generate enough points in the big games. That type of thing seems to follow coaches.
 
He ain’t winning a natty there obviously.. but I think he can get them to a consistent 8 to 10 wins a year program. And if we are going to remain in this conference, we need them to step it up, along with a few others.
 
IMO VT has the potential, as they've shown, to be a PIA. I think the money they're going to throw into the program and with Franklin, giving them some legitimacy in kids' eyes, they will be successful.
 
Just one of reasons I think in realignment talks UVA over VTech is dumb. Not that that isn’t how it is likely to play out. Just if I was making a mega conference, I’d take VTech above UVA. UVA technically probably has more wealthy alums, but they just don’t care as much.

At the rate that he is currently recruiting he will field a very talented squad in no time.
Yes, he has not won the "big game", but he will have a team very capable of beating our guys if we don't bring our "A" game.

VT has always given us a hard time, always. They circle that game and it’s there season. Fraudlin will not be able to consistently recruit the same as at PSU, its VaTech. Right now it’s the shiny new car hype, let’s see where he is in 5 years. At PSU he was handed a Ferrari and returned a Chevy Impala. Look at what the new guy at PSU is doing recruiting wise, PSU will always get football players. VT will get a guy here or there. But I agree with you, we have to bring our A game against them every time.
