Jalen hurts in the portal

So tell me this, you prefer us to continue chasing the Tyrique Stevenson, Khris Bogle, and Frank Ladson’s of the world, for 8 months, constantly refreshing updates, watching the wrist bands and gloves, having Ivins put in a crystal ball to us only to have him change it 24 hrs before NSD because these kids decided to take a bag from UGA or Bama, and hit us with the usual “Miami recruited me very hard, I had to stay up all night and pray about it but at the end of the day I felt home and at peace with (insert college)” line knowing **** well they weren’t coming here to begin with, I want top 5* recruits as well but the reality is that these kid were in diapers the last time Miami did any relevant winning, we would have to win to get some of these top FL recruits and even then some will still take bags, only way to win is by improving this team, either we drop bags on these recruits or we win, and I believe that these transfers can help us with the latter part of that statement. Schnellenberger was innovative because he only recruited in SF, When Jimmy Johnson introduced the Miami 4-3 defense he revolutionized football forever, this is Mannys chance to be innovate in CFB by exploiting this transfer Market, it sounds silly cause it’s Miami doing this but bet if it was Clemson or Wisconsin doing this and they had success, everyone would be praising them. And lastly if these recruits don’t want to come in and compete with transfers then eff em, they never had a Miami mentality to begin with.

Like I said, relying on 4 or 5 transfers to start, contribute and succeed year in, year out is not realistic and not a recipe for success. You're naive if u think we can bring in a grad transfer QB every year and win. Recruiting high school kids has to be first and foremost, then u can fill in the holes with a couple transfers.

Don't want to get my hopes up. He's a proven winner, yes he may not be the best passer In the world but he's definitely serviceable and I have seen him make some beautiful throws that Malik would never make

Your cool with Williams leaving? Huh?

Williams has acted like a big baby constantly threatening to transfer. I had high hopes for him, but I couldn't understand why he wasnt able to crush the other terrible QBs. Then I took a closer look at his HS numbers. Completion rate at about 58%. 58% in high school is not going to cut it in college fb. It looks to me that he has accuracy problems, same Malik and Peter N'Orth. Hurts HS completion % was 62%. His Bama career completion % was identical: 62%. He is consistent and decently accurate. Miami can win 11 games easy with Hurts at QB. 12-2 and ACC coastal title in Diaz's first year (random loss during season, loss to Clemson in ACC championship game, top tier bowl win) is a pretty good start.

No where in my statement did I say Miami needs to bring a Grad Transfer QB every year. As of now our QB room is thin, so yes I expect Miami to explore the transfer market for QBs this year, no I do not expect them to explore it every year. Regardless of your perception of the transfer market, the truth is that Miami needs to explore the transfer market every year because we’re not going to win every recruitment, we need to utilize the best option to build a complete team. Building a successful blueprint with the transfer market is even more realistic now because of the new transfer rules and eligibility rules, we couldn’t have gotten all of these players to potentially start and impact next season if this was 3-4 years ago. Thinking that Miami will lock down SF for the next few years, if they win a couple of more games is Naive, even when Miami was in its heyday we weren’t getting absolutely everyone and until Miami wins a National title or two, I don’t feel comfortable going against Nick Saban or Dabo Swinney for a recruit, you can respectfully disagree with my views, but understand that my views and Manny Diaz views are exactly the same, and until proven unsuccessful, I trust his vision more then anyone on CIS

@Zbrod95 - Good stuff in this thread.

I guess for me, being someone who was never impressed with Jalen Hurts while at Alabama, I would still want him to come here for two reasons:

1). Jalen Hurts in 2019 is likely as good or better than Jarren Williams in 2019.

2). He will bring some solid maturity and work ethic from Alabama. That counts for something in my book.

You lost me at maturity.

Honestly, though. It a no for me on Jalen Hurts. 5 Stars WR, 5 Stars OL and still was trash.

QUOTE="linesniper, post: 3789777, member: 17760"]MIA is the best fit for Hurts... yeah that's a biased opinion, but he comes to a situation customized for him to start immediately at a high-profile program.[/QUOTE]
Exactly. Gotta make the right hire OC/QB Coach.

Just noting, as it was pointed out to me, the Martin situation is not resolved yet. Yeah, it looks like he'll be eligible immediately (as I've stated on here before), but we don't know.

If the NCAA can ***** Miami, they'll usually do so.
But this particular situation isn't about ******** Miami. This is 100% about Asa Martin and how Auburn screwed him. I'm confident his situation will be resolved by Martin being ruled eligible to play immediately.

Of course we should try to get Hurts and he may do well here....BUT I seriously doubt he'd come here.

He'll have better higher ranking options with some teams with actual P-5 league championship potential and.....

Why come to a team with a matador offensive line?? There are much safer options out there to showcase your skills.

My guess if he really wants to stick it to Bama is that he'll go to an SEC school like LSU

I don't know if Hurts would come here, but you don't think that Miami has ACC championship potential next year? The coastal is a mess and there's no reason that the Canes couldn't be on top when all is said and done. Much of our on field struggles last year were due to shotty, inconsistent QB play, poor OL blocking, and miserable play calling - the defense was definitely CFB playoff caliber. You bring in Hurts and a new offensive staff, who's to say that the offense doesn't dramatically improve and we're looking at a 0-2 loss Miami team going into the ACCCG? Although there would still be serious questions about the OL, I don't think Miami is as bad of a landing spot for him as you're making it out to be.

Plus, Hurts is loved by the Bama fan base, has won there at the highest level as the starting QB, and is a stand-up kid by all accounts. I don't think that he would transfer to an SEC school just to spite them but who knows.

Having to rely on 4 or 5 transfers to come in consistently and start and contribute immediately, is a recipe for disaster. Especially for the QB position. If we relied on that then there will be years where we don't get those transfers or they don't pan out. Not to mention the impact that would have on recruiting high school players. No kid would sign if we were known as the transfer school and could bring in an older guy to take his spot.like a said a couple transfers are okay, but u will not be able to sustain success if u have to bring in 5 transfers every year to contribute.

Obviously not the plan for this to be a yearly thing. Did you happen to see our recruiting class this year? This is a short term fix and one that is desperately needed.

Never said Miami was a bad landing spot ......just said that Hurts will have better safer options

We'll see how it turns out.

As I said, I doubt in the end that he'll come here. My guess in the end is Oklahoma

Hurts should transfer to MIA for 2 simple reasons:

1.) If Applewhite is our OC, then his Offense far and away could best utilize his skillset. I realize the same could also be said for UF, but as an Alabama legend, I doubt his 1st preference would be to transfer to an SEC school.

2.) Transferring to MIA, also allows him a much easier path towards a conference championship game. I believe if he is truly interested in being on the road towards vindication, one way to do this is to prove to the world that he has what it takes to beat Clemson. At MIA he will get that opportunity.

I think this is what Manny was envisioning when he talked about being the destination spot for transfers. Even if Jalen doesn't come this is still a pretty **** good pull.

If Asa can become eligible then it negates the loss of Homer. Kennedy injects some life into our lifeless OL. I don't know much about Bubba but sounds like a talented kid with some off the field issues. The dream here is he becomes an impact player like Willis was but even if he's just a solid rotational player that's still huge considering the loss of Jaquan and Redwine.

When it's all said and done, we're bringing 3 extremely talented players that are plug and play. Potentially 4 with Jalen but I highly doubt he comes here.
