How is it "kinda a half truth".
He was committed to Taint all along, even when Miami was the high bidder. He had every chance to flip publicly and never took it. Taint made the highest NIL offer they've ever made to a HS recruit, and Smith was happy to take it.
"A takeout bid". Sure. Whatever.
Smith liked Hartline, he liked Taint, he was committed for a while. Smith didn't like Smith and didn't know about Ward. Yes, Smith needed comparable money from Taint, and he also never gave us a chance to raise the price again. Besides, he was more concerned with getting the offer in writing, which is how Miami almost got a second bite of the apple.
And "we had the highest offer" is simply not true. Taint's offer the night before Signing Day topped ours.
