This is also kinda a half truth. We had highest offer. He intimated that wanted to go to Miami but no qb and we didn’t have Ward yet. He also preferred OSU and used us to up the deal to $1.2. We should have done a takeout bid. Stupid move by us. We’re not run by smart people… it’s evident

How is it "kinda a half truth".

He was committed to Taint all along, even when Miami was the high bidder. He had every chance to flip publicly and never took it. Taint made the highest NIL offer they've ever made to a HS recruit, and Smith was happy to take it.

"A takeout bid". Sure. Whatever.

Smith liked Hartline, he liked Taint, he was committed for a while. Smith didn't like Smith and didn't know about Ward. Yes, Smith needed comparable money from Taint, and he also never gave us a chance to raise the price again. Besides, he was more concerned with getting the offer in writing, which is how Miami almost got a second bite of the apple.

And "we had the highest offer" is simply not true. Taint's offer the night before Signing Day topped ours.

Exactly. It's enough that the rules have changed to the extent they have to essentially eliminate returns. But with this level of athlete down here why not push it WHEN YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY. His thing I understand, it's because we don't have the discipline elsewhere. We don't have the type of teams that can make up for a bunch of errors. But that's on him. Get these kids attention. Fix the discipline issues. If that means we run some kids off to get everyone else on the same page than kick rocks bud. We need to employ each and every tactical advantage we have. That's special teams, thats DBS making plays on the ball and being aggressive. If that leads to a timely penalty in some uncomfortable spots, if that leads to big plays here and there I'm perfectly fine with it. Cause it's gonna work for us more often than not and it shows teams they have a reason to be cautious. We don't even give opposing coordinators reason to question a call if we're showing them week in and week out bad technique and an unwillingness to be aggressive enough to turn them over more often than not
Yep. Remember when Mark No D wanted SOFLA athletes to wait for the ball to come to them rather than attack? It is not too much to ask that we only have to learn these kinds of lessons once.

All I know is Drew Rosenhaus sure knows wtf hes doing lol. Nobody seems to know a **** thing on this either way.
Wow, hold on a second. Haven't you read about illicit money or bags with top recruits. If you believe it, Drew and other agents/attorneys would only be privy to the NIL portion.

We can whine all we want, but he’s doing his job well rn. There was a small part of me expecting him to delay for a third time to OV here. Just to drive the bag up high from all parties.

First off, statistics never have told the whole story. There have been teams that lost games but statistically had every advantage. I want to point some things out that I think will surprise most of you in terms of, statistical category.

I think we can all agree that Miamis defense was generationally bad, correct? However, our defense statistically in ypg allowed was ranked 27th in the country. Thats better than UGAs too, 30th. Anyone willing to say we had a better defense? Statistically our defense allowed less ypg than 4 of the 5 conference champs that made the playoffs and were only like 15 yards pg off from Oregon.
There is a sizeable contingent of people on this board that will argue Miami's defense last season was not bad at all and use statistics to say "see! I told you!"

However, statistics is a tool used to contextualize information. You are right, the statistics themselves do not tell the whole story. The missing information are the eyeballs on our stupid faces that told us everything we needed to know. The 2024 defense was probably the worst in at least the past 2-3 decades.

Miami's 2024 defense may be the all-time worst "statistically good" defense. So congrats, we were the tallest midget.

Probably isn't a factor at this point, but both of Cantwell's parents were affiliated with Nike during their shot-putting careers. Georgia and obviously Oregon are Nike schools.

There are no excuses. There's nothing wrong with describing what is happening. I've already said that we don't have the boosters willing to do what certain SEC boosters routinely do.

If that description is not good enough, then let's see if anyone on the board is willing to step up and do the things that certain SEC boosters have been doing for decades. Because I haven't seen that yet.

I'm not sure what you think the "other sides to the story" are. If the recruiting decision comes down to the single consideration of "most total money", then Miami is most likely to lose out unless an SEC team chooses to tap out. That is a fair assessment that is not limited to this particular recruitment.

If a recruit takes into account more factors than just "high bidder", then Miami stands a far better chance of winning the recruitment.

Problem here is that what I have been told is that we have the best offer on the table. Regardless of where the funds are coming from. Now if you have different info, well that's just part of all the different stories. But I will never doubt my sources info.

With that being said, I can unequivocally tell you about 3 high profile recruits that we had the best offer and by far, and still missed out on them. The reality is, that Mario has missed on recruits were we outbid everyone else. Why we lost out on them? Only the recruits themselves could say.

I have zero intent in belittling you. But, you do realize the intent of the post wasn’t to highlight our defense, right?

I was told that UGA is using our QB room against us. They feel good about their room and they're using Curtis as a selling point. They're also talking **** about Beck and the fact that we'll be headed back to the portal after the season. Again.

Cantwell doesn't have any issues with Coleman or anything. But Curtis is the #1 QB and #2 overall player.

I was also told that they're looking to add both Derrek Cooper and Savion Hiter at RB.

Buckle up.
did georgia recruit Luke Nickel? real question

We have the best offer ON the table, but not necessarily under the table.

And, again, I've been very clear. There are some recruits that decide based solely on high-bid money. There are some who take multiple factors into account.

I'm not saying whether Cantwell will make his decision based solely on money. But it is ABSOLUTELY TRUE that increased money got some schools "back in the mix", when he had already silently committed to Miami.

You know what it is. Stop being an *** about this subject.

It's undeclared cash. Can be given to coaches, family members, and/or friends.
Love the mystery and intrigue here. In the recruitment of Cantwell, since he's topic of the day, do you believe his parents/family may receive "undeclared cash" in addition to NIL money? Is there a little something to go along with the NIL?

I’ve heard same things.

Georgia on the other hand are able to get guys to take less in their first years. They are rarely the top bidder.

KJ Bolden took less last year, turned in a Freshman All American season and now he’s got NIL and branding set up that he’s about make up for the losses and make even more money had he gone to the top bidder last year
